Factions have always been a ubiquitous part of the Fallout franchise. Some you can choose to join, others you can choose to wipe off the face of the radiation-covered earth.

Fallout: New Vegas still has them, but this time around you may want to think very carefully before deciding which one you want to be a part of. As the fourth New Vegas dev diary reveals, choosing a faction to join isn't just a matter or working out which are the good ones and which are the evil ones.

Players will have to carefully consider the ramifications of joining one of the three main factions in the game -- the New California Republic, the slave-trading Ceasar's Legion, and the forces of New Vegas' ruler, Mr. House -- or working up allegiances with the many smaller groups like the Kings and the Followers of the Apocalypse or even just striking out on their own and throwing everything into chaos.

I guess I'll just do what I always do: find who gives me the most money and equipment, join, and then kill 'em all.
