Ó

sims3fIndeed, The Sims are bustin' out again. They've given us a heads-up back in February, but today, EA has announced that The Sims 3 is now in development for console and handheld.

By "console and handheld", they mean the PS3, the Xbox 360, the Wii, and the DS - no PSP version. EA also detailed different features coming to the different platforms.

The PS3-360 versions will have fate-altering "Karma Powers". To quote the press release, these Karma Powers allow players to "help their Sim 'get lucky,' bless them with 'instant beauty' or be deviant and curse them with an 'epic fail.' But players should use these powers wisely—they may have unexpected results and karma may come back to bite." There will also be avenues to exchange user-generated content, plus the usual Facebook integration.

The Wii version will get "an all-new beach town with unique residents, traits, careers and lifetime wishes." Additionally, the Wii version also gets the "Life Moments" game which gives players opportunities to earn rewards.

The DS will get a Story Mode, where "players will control multiple Sims within a family and enjoy life’s special moments." Doing so will unlock additional buildings, items, and whathaveyou. A feature unique to the DS will be the use of a stylus in sculpting Sims' faces and such, as well as in building and designing homes.

EA hasn't specified a release date, nor have they given any update on that Q3 release they were aiming for.

I think the wii's getting the best out of this. Karma system may be a pain to deal with, much rather have the extra's on ps3/360.

Yeah, I agree with you.

I might actually pick this up if it has local multiplayer like the previous console Sims did. 4 player would be nice this time so that I don't have 1 bot-sim-sister crying and washing dishes all the time (even though it was hilarious when she kept kicking us out of the bathroom because the kitchen sink was clogged). :D :D :D

FINALLY. I've been waiting for this for awhile. IT BETTER HAVE MULTIPLE STORIES AND NOT BE CRAP LIKE THE SIMS 2 FOR CONSOLES. Seeing that its coming to the 360 too, I'm sure it wont be as great as it could if it were a PS3 exclusive, but I still want multistory homes and GOOD objects.

I wouldnt bother buying a game like this on the consoles. It was designed for PC, and it works best on the PC. User created content is unregulated, and obviously things can be far more grand.

Heh but they're designing it for console now its what this news thing is all about right?

I bet in your opinion, all games are designed for the PC because it's easier to mod and cheat with?

if you read what he said you would ssee that in this case the sims will be terrible compared to what it is on pc, theres never been such a good sims on anything other than pc and all games designed for something is better with that thing obviously, you wouldnt wear shoes on your hands and expect them to be miricale gloves

The Sims is great on one non-PC platform. The Mac!

only cause mac is a pc (pc == personal computer... not windows..)

unfortunately i hate apple. DRM and system restricting whores. (altho AFAIK mac is neither a DRM whore nor restricted.. but its still based on linux and should not cost money. But then theres mac hardware...)

Sure the pc versions maybe always the best (one that will cost alot more money as well) but console version an't too bad as well... I wished the fridge feature in sims2 for console had been in the pc version. I liked selecting ingredients to make a random dish or not so random.

# cost more?Christian Banks 2010-07-21 12:53
possibly, however just browsing around PC versions of games are usually cheaper..

EA is just lame when they make sims, all versions should have the same features.. (except the ds version... cause.. well.. the system is weak.)

...wait... I don't even like sims xD
