TGS 2010 to have less RPGs and more shooters

Japan is the bastion of role-playing games, so when you're looking at the Tokyo Game Show, you'd think they'd have RPGs left and right in the expo. That won't be the case this year. The total number of RPGs to be featured in the show are just half of last year's count, while the number of shooters have nearly doubled.

The TGS website posted a table showing the total number of games that the publishers are taking to the show. From 52 RPGs last year, this year's show will only have 26. Shooters, on the other hand, went from 10 to 19.

Here's a breakdown products to be featured in the show, sorted by category:

With the advent of new devices, such as the PlayStation Move, Microsoft's Kinect, and Nintendo's 3DS, peripherals to be present in the show have quite predictably skyrocketed compared to 2009.

Wow, I know it's just your opinion, but JRPGs are good, and I can't understand why you would say that. Unless you're talking about the JRPGs on Xbox 360 then I would understand. Also JRPGs are really more about the story than game play, basically it rewards you for grinding by telling you the rest of the story. Games like Fallout are great because it gives a different feel to the whole set up of RPGs in general such as the first person view and the scenario of a post-nuclear war zone.

What is the picture in the jump from?
obviously its not FFVII on the ps1

Anyways ive only been playing Ps2 the lately and some psOne games on my PSP.

But there are some great Rpg for the other consoles, but i sold my XBOX360 since i felt it was totaly fail on the RPG section.

Ohhh and if i see another FPS i will puke and my head will blow up!!!!

also i think that Dragon Age on ps3 was great!

i'm a little saddened that japanese publishers are abandoning their JRPGs to jump the shooter bandwagon

It's not exactly a bandwagon though, Japanese Shooters have been massively popular over there and here since the mid-90's. It's a very popular genre.

Maybe they'll make an RPG/Shooter hybrid like Sigma Star Saga :D.

If your sick of them then go back in time and tell RARE don't release Golden Eye 007. Then you wont have companies out there trying to best 007 and the new future will have less FPS and you'll be a hero. :)

meh ffs i would like too see more stalker/fallout fps/rpg games then anything,like hunting for rare items too upgrade weapons too make then better i wouldent care much for a story just too be able too go in too a full open world and do what you want kind of thing.
