Remember Dead or Alive Cronus and Project Progressive? These two titles were among those Team Ninja were supposedly working on back when Dead or Alive mastermind Tomonobu Itagaki was still a part of the studio.

Now, more than two years after Itagaki severed his ties with Tecmo, we finally have confirmation on the fate of these games. Says Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi, they have both been canceled.

Hayashi revealed in a recent Famitsu interview that while Project Progressive made it all the way through to what he calls a "plot version", the development team has since stopped working on it. There are no plans to continue.

Dead or Alive Cronus shared the same fate, although it did not even get past the framwork stage before it got dropped.

Hayashi and Team Ninja are now working on Ninja Gaiden 3, the samurai action-adventure game Ni-oh, and a new Dead or Alive title for the Nintendo 3DS.

They need to just do a remake of DOA2U. It was far more loaded than DOA4 was anyway.

That stinks! I was hoping for a better Dead or Alive for the PS3. Maybe they will get around to it eventually.

What else is new, After Itagaki left I knew that there would not be another DOA game ever again.
