There are many online RPGs out there so it's a tug-of-war for developers to try and attract as many players they can into their slice of the market. For Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), it's a success for the family-friendly, free-to-play Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures. In just a week of operations, they've managed to pull in a million players into their virtual world.
“We are thrilled to have hit the one million player mark in Clone Wars Adventures so quickly and look forward to seeing the player community continue to grow,” said SOE president John Smedley. “Combining the technology, design infrastructure and lessons learned from Free Realms with the amazing Clone Wars brand, we knew we could make a great game, and we’re happy to see that fans of all ages are enjoying the content as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
As thanks to the community, SOE is handing out a free limited edition Golden Mouse Droid as a pet. An in-game virtual get-together was held last Friday, but in case you missed out, there will be weekly live events for everyone to participate in.
