Two games after the original was released, GSC GameWorld is now finally gearing up for a true numbered sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
"After the official sales of the series exceeded 4 million copies worldwide, we had no doubts left to start creating a new big game in the STALKER universe," said CEO Sergiy Grygorovych. "This will be the next chapter of the mega-popular game players expect from us.
Perhaps the most interesting tidbit the developers have shared about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is that it will utilize "a completely new multi-platform technology" at its core. If that means what I think it means, then console gamers may well be in for a wild ride.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is slated for a 2012 release.

I applied the oblivion lost mod to shadow of Chernobyl and that seems to be the best stalker game so far.
