Square Enix: FFXIII-2 will exceed the original in every way

Now that the 1st Production Department conference has announced Final Fantasy XIII-2, Square Enix's Western arms have now come in to back them up. Their take? The direct sequel will be better than its predecessor in every way. That's very promising considering a lot of folks weren't so happy with Final Fantasy XIII. Maybe this trailer will give you some idea.

 

 

 

According to Square Enix Europe and USA, who have just sent out respective press releases, Final Fantasy XIII-2 will "exceed" Final Fantasy XIII in every aspect. The direct sequel will also sport an "evolved" battle system, but they didn't detail how they are to tweak the real-time turn-based hybrid.

 

The big story in the sequel is Lightning's rival, who squares off with her in the trailer above.

 

While Japan gets Final Fantasy XIII-2 within the year, Square Enix Europe and USA say that the game will be coming out in their regions "next winter," which would pretty much be a year from now.

As much as I liked the first game, I have to agree that a sequal will probably be tons better. Having broken the ice in the relationship of SE devs and the modern console generation, gameplay design can take higher priority over graphics which by in large, already has a great head start considering all the graphical content already made. Hopefully FFXIII-2 development has a smoother road when it comes to development because as we know, the original game had many setbacks lending to a product that didn't feel like it was the best it could've been. I want my 7th ark. :P

despite its flaws, i enjoyed XIII. so if Square does deliver and make XIII-2 better in every aspect, i look forward to it.

Let's just hope we have towns in this one and a MUCH better storyline. Also the levels need to be a little wider. I honestly felt that the levels were narrower than train tracks.

I hope they'll give the option for the user on Xbox 360 to download the game on Xbox LIVE than inserting all discs needed (like a code that comes with a sealed game).

However, there are people that really like multi disc games, but it's not too many.

hope this one isn't as linear as the first one, I want FF back as it used to be where you run around in an opend world and can explore free and no more Cie'th stone missions, those was boring and pointless

Square Enix used to be the best RPG company out there, now they're letting their worst director take control of everything? He failed with X-2, the only thing good that came out of XIII was the story, why do they think XIII-2 will do any better? The company has lost its luster, primarily because of this fool and the team who worked on XIV. I'm more excited for Versus because that has the director of Kingdom Hearts.

FF XXX-2: Has accessible towns, more open areas, Battle system supports "trigger happy" input (like Yuna's guns in FF X-2),DLC, Full HD 1080dpi (like they did in Japan with the original), more movies (yes, I liked all the movies and want more), has better music, support 3D (one can dream right?) and connects the story directly to Versus, which will be released a month later for us to enjoy :D If you return your copy of FF XIV you will get the game for free (please do it SE, I still haven't played my copy!) :cry: .
On PS3 it will be 3 Blu-rays. If you play it on Xbox be prepared for 360 DVDs :lol: . BTW what happened to agito? is FF Type Zero actually Agito?

connects the story to Versus? no. they are not in the same world. More like different time and world. At least that's what they said a long time ago.

Versus shares the same world as FF XIII, only the time-line is different. When I said it would connect to Versus I only meant it would set the backstory for it, not actually be a direct prequal to it.

The only way it will exceed the first FFX111 is if they turn back to the old time Turn based combat system like FFX.

It's FFXIII (Final Fantasy XIII) not FF111. It's FFXIII (Final Fantasy XIII).
