If not for that last-minute delay, a lot of PS3 owners would probably be playing Gran Turismo 5 by now. That's all water under the bridge by this point, but even though Sony may be adamant about releasing the game during the Holiday season some aren't as optimistic.

Eurogamer reports that industry sources believe there is "not too much hope" that the highly-anticipated racer from Polyphony Digital will make it to retail this year. Sony, on their part, is still sticking to the December 2010 window they previously announced.

Meanwhile, retailers have also updated their listings for the game's launch. While all of them are pretty much arbitrary, it's a bit telling that most of the big retailers don't seem to expect gamers will be getting the game as a Christmas present. GameStop and Target have it down for January 1, 2011. Amazon has changed their projected release date to December 31, 2010.
