Sony shares PlayStation stats to mark the occasion

Yes, it's PlayStation's 15th birthday, and apart from goodies on PSN, Sony also presented a few interesting PlayStation factoids. Based from surveys they conducted, they found that Kratos is their most popular first-party character, that 1 of 5 gamers have played for 10 hours straight, and that 7% won't even date a non-gamer.

- i have no qualms about giving up on social networking sites, i don't play any fantasy sports leagues, but i just can't give up my phone.

- i don't eat while playing since i hate getting the controller all greasy..

I second that... well maybe except for the 10 hrs straight. I don't get a chance to play that long cause of my Wife.... For any of you who have one, you know how that goes lol.

My wife IS a gamer as well. I'm one of the lucky ones I suppose.

We've spent many hours playing together, I just wish there were more split screen co-op games out there. Too many online only nowadays.

Same as me. I would like to date a gamer girl, I would get annoyed by anyone who can't understand a gamer way of life.

I grew up with Nintendo/Sega but now I prefer Sony for their great multi-media centre/gaming system (PS3).

I own at the moment 6 PS3 games, but the one I play most is KillZone 2 although I use PS3 more to see TV series/movies.

the longest my PS3 has been on is to watch Spider-Man trilogy on bluray along with like 4 other movies so yeah I left it on for about 20 hours before but only for bluray.. its only been on for 2 hours MAX!!! for videogames.. sorry sony... still waiting for that amazing game..

Wow, even though its been forever since the jak and daxter gang has had one of their epic games people really liked them. Im pretty surprised because that was a long time ago. Im happy to see im not the only one who still loves jak and daxter!

The longest I've played is 18hrs straight, it was FFXI (PS2) and I survived on Cheeze-Itz and water

I have 35 ps3 games and 40 ps2 games. Only play 4 hours max.

- I could easily give up all three (I barely use Facebook, no cellphone, and people actually play fanatasy sports leagues? :P)
- I only have 13 PS3 games
- I have easily played for more than 10 hours straight (I'm looking at you Disgaea 3, FFXIII, Valkyria Chronicles)
- Sackboy
- I normally don't snack on anything while gaming, but I do guzzle down tons of Mtn Dew
- I'm a loser; never dated anyone.

-I can get rid of social networking sites, and I don't play fantasy leagues either, and my phone... thats a hard choice... I can do it but I'd feel like I didn't want too

-on my PS3 I own like 11-20 probably, but my whole library is over 20+

-I've played over 10 hours before on my consoles, and Ed I beat your time for FFXI I played that over 24 hours one time.

-favorite 1st party character would be Nathan Drake, Kratos is a bad ass don't get me wrong, but I like Nathan's witty banter when your in the middle of a fire fight.

-its a mix for me for food, its usually whatever is in the fridge or pantry.

-and yes I have to have someone who understands that gaming is a part of my life and if they can't accept that then I can't date them, doesn't matter to me if they are into it or not.

I wish Crash bandicoot was votable too! That was my first video game as a kid (3 years old) on the Playstation.

- i own only 6 games but i play the shit out of them =D

- 5 hours straight then on the next day 4 hours more to beat God of War III

- Kratos>Ratchet>everybody else is irrelevant

- no eating, i hate greasy controls

social habits of mine are for me to worry about. i own/have owned well more than 20 games. i have played more than 24 hours in Grand Tourismo, so don't get me started on the many many many Square rpgs. Sony still lacks a decent mascot. as far as food goes use a napkin.

i can give up social networking and all that stuff... but not my cellphone

i don't eat while playing because i don't want to get grease on the controller

i can date non gamers... but if they don't let me play video games, well bu-bye xD

Lets see...
I wouldn't give up my phone or social networking for my console (rely on them for work/contacts)... fantasy sports leagues wtf. I imagine they're bigger in US than here because I'm lolling at the concept of it!

I have 25 or so PSP games (I only buy the good ones/ones I know I'll like)
I have never played more than 1 or 2 hours on a console game, maybe on Twilight Princess years ago...

Don't like any of those characters, moving on.

Chips and pizza when playing a game? Don't those people value the condition of their controller! Also wouldn't it get cold? I don't eat whilst gaming. I'm also not fat (runner).

My fiancee is also a gamer and infect forced me to buy the latest generation of consoles! I was happy with my DS, PSP, PC and occasional Wii. Now I have 2 unused boxes in the living room.

"40% of PS3 owners cannot be in a relationship with a partner who gets in the way of their gaming"? I guess beggars can be choosers.

I own more than 20 PS3 games, more than 20 PS2 games, more than 20 PS1 games, under 20 PSP games, some gamecube games, a few wii games, some Xbox games and various other platform games too. Gaming is my number one choice of fun and my girlfriend knows not to mess with that. The only social networking sites I use are game related. None of that facebook, twitter or myspace for me. Fuel for my gaming has to be beer, coffee or soda and whatever good foods I have at the time. The longest I ever gamed was more than 24 hours and I was a step away from a seizure episode but that was when the SNES came out and I received one at Christmas. I was in disbelief of the fantasticness that was the SNES at the time. I was playing some Super Mario World of course and rented me U.N. Squadron which hooked me for hours. As far as the playstation goes I have since had many episodes of playing more than 10 hours. My favorite first party character is probably Kratos.

most played was 22 hours straight, stress headache, eyes hurt, arms were shaking, threw up, worse than the worst drunk episode, Crisis Core Rocks ! ;p

Ha, that's pretty funny. I can imagine staying up for a great game like Team Fortress or Left For Dead but not for the likes of Crisis Core xD
