Listed in: PSP, PS3 Tags: Eric Lempel, firmware update, PlayStation Store, psn, Sony

Sony is set to release a new firmware update for both the PlayStation 3 and PSP "shortly". According to Eric Lempel, VP, Network Operations Americas, the upcoming PS3 firmware update 3.41 will add a new PlayStation Store recommendations features for games and videos, while the PSP firmware update will further improve the stability some titles:
"Hi everyone, the next PlayStation 3 (PS3) system software update is coming soon. Firmware update 3.41 will add recommendations for games and videos on PlayStation Store. When you’re browsing through the details of a particular title, you’ll see a new “You May Like” section on the right-hand side. This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you’re currently looking at."
"This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it’s another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all — similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update. Please note that while the 3.41 update will be released shortly, the recommendations feature on PlayStation Store is slated to go live by the end of July."
"In addition to this PS3 update, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) firmware update (v.6.31) will be coming as well. This is a minor update, and system software stability during use of some PSP format software titles has been improved."
So there you have it folks. Stay tune for the update.

This is a perpetual game of chess, where Sony will always wait for the HB coders to claim "Check", before doing anything
Something must have spooked them to go to 6.31 so soon after the outed UMD exploits

I have yet to look at the top 10 in the store or the staff picks so I highly doubt that PS recommends will be of any use too me. If they really want to make things worth while they should focus on stability and features that actually add value to the system and give customers new and old a reason to turn the thing on.
As nice as PSN is Live kicks its ass in terms of features, paid and unpaid. Sony is not as much about innovation as they are making the $$$ if they were MS would have a hard time competing with them. What better way to make the $$$ than with an update disguised as something useful for users to spend their cash. Like PS+ "We promised you the moon, heres a photo of it"
On the PSP side of things I don't think we are going to see much for it anymore, with PSP2 in development its only a matter of time before they stop supporting the older gen PSP models. I am surprised it has managed to make it this far in its lifetime.

I have PSP GO. IT´s AWEOMSE! WAY better than the other PSP versions. People say taht if you drop it once, it breaks. Well, i have droped it 12 times, from aout a meter, and it´s running PERFECT. So you guys better clear your minds up, cuz The PSP 2 roumor is just something some guy started. And belive me, I know, cuz I have done it myself. IN school, not the internet. So people, use your brains... Use´em. A lot.

In what games? I have never found my PSP "unstable". Its never crashed no matter what UMD, PS1 or any other kind of download.
I wonder what its really for?

I'm pretty sure they patched an exploit somewhere

Why can't I at least install the update over remoteplay?
Then, every time a new firmware update is installed they disable remote start. So even if I could install the update remotely I would be locked out after the reboot.
WFT.
