Sony has a patent with a PS3 controller connected to a PSP |
Listed in: PSP, PS3 Tags: patent, Sony
When playing on a PSP, I often find myself with a lot of difficulty managing with the controls, especially on games like Tekken 6. Sometimes, those buttons can be a little unwieldy. I'm sure a lot of you have thought of this before, but apparently, Sony has too. In fact, they have a patent for it. In this patent, you'll see a PS3 controller hooked up to a PSP.

It's not crisp-cut clear as to what this indicates. The PSPgo already allows players to use a controller for gaming, so it would appear the same feature may come to all other PSPs. Judging by the illustration, you may be able to connect the PSP and the controller directly, or you may need a hinged peripheral to make the connection.
Either way, this seems like a pretty good option for many who have trouble with the size of the PSP controls. The solution may also provide you with a second analog stick, as well as a second set of should buttons.

If they did a firmware update that allowed you to map the dual shock controls to the psp (like the reverse of the PSX button mapping supported for PS1 Classic games) it would be transparently backward compatible with ALL PSP titles.
Imagine Medal of Honor Heroes with the view controls mapped to the second analog stick! Oh my!

I am sure everyone has thought of this idea but here it goes.
How about a usb nub blue tooth plug. like the gyro plug. at least that would compete with the pspgo and could be designed for the top usb port instead, so that it could still allow you to video or headphone out. of course this would stop the gps or camera temporally, but that is okay by me.
That is my 2 sense for what it is worth.

I wish I had the skills to do that.

And less clunky.
You can go on ebay and get a ps controller shaped snapon handle from china for about 5 bucks.
They've had them for years.
Its true that the psp controls can be torturous to manipulate. And I dont even have particularly lage hands.
But its not worth making a mess out of things and defeating the whole purpose of owning a portable in the first place.
I wish sony would spend their energies on the game library instead.

PRE-FLAMING: YES, I KNOW THAT THE GO CAN CONNECT ALREADY. But can you hold both at the same time? PRECISELY)

How is it shite?
I don't think this add-on is about portability it is more about the comfort when you are playing at home and honestly the PSP isn't the most comfortable thing to play video games on. Especially for people with huge hands like me.

$ony are retarded and i hate the fuckers. I'm never buying another Sony product again since the removal of OS. I sure hope Microsoft come up with the next gen console and fuck Sony right in their tiny little stink hole with it.
I'm not a big fan of Microsoft but WAS a big fan of Sony and have owned all their systems. About time the mother ship went down i'd say.
The psp is fucktarded END OF.
