Sony still aren't done with the PS2. After more than ten years in existence, the venerable old console is now being marketed as part of a Bravia bundle. Don't think that's so surprising? Well, this isn't exactly your normal, everyday bundle. In fact, it might not even count as a bundle at all, seeing as how Sony attached the PS2 to a frickin' 22" Bravia TV.

As you can see, the BRAVIA KDL-22PX300 has a PS2 where the stand would usually be. Of course, you cant play without a controller so it comes with one. It also has onboard sound.

I'm sorry, I saw this and thought of those TV/Console combos I see from China or at the local swap meet. In all seriousness though, this is pretty smart of them. Most people are on a budget and if they just want both of them they can get it like that! And the memory cards are like dirt cheap now so they won't have problems with that. Good for Sony.

Yup, probably to keep PS2 alive.

But PS2 on an HDTV looks like shit.

well... I thought Gran Turismo 4 had an option to be adjusted to HDTVs or 16:9 format (one of those, I don't remember)

I don't know about GT4 specifically, but there were some ps2 games that would run in progressive scan and 16:9. Tomb Raider Anniversary is one such example and it looks much better on my hdtv with it turned on... but it's still only 480p so, yeah it's quite a bit better than normal ps2 games, but not great.

PS2 will not look shit on this, that's the main reason it's connected to a 22 inch and no more bigger than that. Lol my SDTV is 21 inch, this will actually make PS2 graphics just right or a little bit better because LCD TV have better color rendering and there will be less blur compared to a PS2 plugged in a SDTV. Imagine it as a large PSP

Fair enough, see how many new SDTV's you can find for sale that Sony can connect it to... Any? No? This isn't a 50" screen that will make Ps2 look horribly pixelated, it's only a little 22 incher so Ps2 resolution's more than enough. People are just spoiled with HD now thinking if a little 2" screen doesn't have 1080p then it must be crap.

Wonder if the TV upscales the PS2 like the PS3 smoothing effects. Wouldn't make much sense to use an SD console on an HDTV without some sort of upscaling.

This is a great deal for like younger kids and stuff. It would've been nicer if it were more integrated, like a slot loader into the side of the television, but whatever, this is pretty nice. And the PS2 games are still fun.
