Sony giving away ten downloadable games to PSP Go owners next month

Sony's still putting a lot of effort into selling more PSP Go units. We've seen a couple of free game promotions for the handheld before, and next month Sony will be kicking off another one.

“Next month we’re launching a free ten game offer," said SCE UK sales director Mark Howsen. "And this isn’t just older titles – we’ve worked with third parties and there’s some really good core products. We’re using it as a method to drive the hardware as well by making the whole proposition much more appealing.

The promo will entitle anyone who registers their PSP Go after April 1 2010 to ten full downloadable games. Below is a full list (allegedly) of the games to be given away:

LittleBigPlanet
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines
FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Motorstorm: Arctic Edge
Wipeout Pure
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
Gran Turismo
Need for Speed: Shift
An unknown title

Whats the difference? It's the same in practice and shows that piracy (getting games for free) is a valid marketing plan. There's always been arguments that piracy helps consoles mass appeal and with the larger ownership, more games sell. Just compare it to the GOs lackluster sales - a lot of people contribute that to the lack of piracy and now Sony are giving it their stamp of approval.

are you just stupid or something?? getting games free is not equal to pirating. sony struck a deal with those game companies and are paying them something for it. they are NOT stealing the games of a torrent site or something and handing them out . . .

it does make the psp go more attractive and with hbl and 16 gigs. i really like the desigh the only reason im intressted is because my psp 2000 was stolen and i bet if your psp was stolen then you would find this rather intresting

I think they should at least give something to the US buyers but really Europe has been subsidising the low cost of their consoles for so long it is only right to turn that round a bit, but really they should give them the 2 game offer we had.

Does this only apply to New PSPgo buyers, or existing customers too? "anyone who registers"...does that mean I miss out if I already own? :S

How do you register your pspgo to get these games? I know this isn't an american promo but can I use an american pspgo to do this?

Wow! Sony is really pulling a last ditch effort to full the PSPGo out of the fire. They're giving away their AAA games for FREE?! Are they kidding? They should just let the PSPGo die. It failed.
