Sonic 4 cheating forces Sega to reset the leaderboards |
Listed in: Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 Tags: Sega, sonic the hedgehog 4: episode 1
Some people just won't stop at nothing to see their names on top of the leaderboards, even if the game is just Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. With a number of players using cheats to post unbelievable scores in the game, Sega had to reset the whole thing to keep them out of the picture.

No one will ever be convinced that you managed to beat a level in a record-setting 0:00:00, so why should Sega? The publisher made the move in response to the number of cheaters, as well as for fans asking them to do something about it. Unfortunately, this reset will also affect those who worked for legit top scores.
There's no word from Sega as to how they will address the cheaters specifically, so that will remain to be seen for now.

and well, if they don't patch the game (which they won't), cheaters will do it again, and again, and again.
I just can't understand why is necessary to reset the whole leaderboard. What kind of shitty programmers did a leaderboard system that the only way to fix is this?!
wtf...

They should have a way to filter the ridiculous scores without affecting everyone else.

Too much work for them to remove specific users from the leaderboard so they decided to be lazy and just reset the leaderboard.
As if resetting leaderboard is going to solve the real problem of this.
