The eighth installment in the Silent Hill series finally has an official title -- and its the exact same one rumored only recently. Game Informer got the scoop on Silent Hill: Downpour, and thanks to the intrepid members of NeoGAF we've learned of a few details regarding the game.
Downpour is the name of an area in the southeastern part of Silent Hill and as the name suggests, water will reportedly be a major factor. It's not just regular water but the creepy Silent Hill kind, meaning you'll find stuff like "bizarre water effects [that] look like an upside down river flowing across a ceiling".
Although well-known Silent Hill landmarks such as Alchemilla Hospital won't be appearing, fans of the series will probably still be a bit familiar with Downpour as apparently it can be seen on maps in previous Silent Hill games. The area is pretty big and has a subway system that players can ride.

How about a 4 player co-op game with some of the protagonists from previous games playing their stories at once? Y'know as to say it's all happening at that moment lol

Let me clue you in. As I understand it, in Silent Hill 2 James "created" Pyramid Head in his own head to punish him for killing his wife. In the end, James confronts Pyramid Head and kills him off. End of Pyramid Head.
So how the fuck do they come off bringing Pyramid Head BACK into the series for another character to fear? And as the Boogeyman no less! Pyramid Head was, is and forever will be the villain of Silent Hill 2. (Or James, whichever way you look at it)("But James IS Pyramid Head..." DON'T EVEN!)
I hereby stand firmly at the fact that after Silent Hill 4: The Room the series is dead.
There just better not be another fucking incarnation of said wheelbarrow wearing menace or I'll have to shoot a puppy.
