Shoplifters get away with US$ 1,200 worth of games

scContrary to our previous post where a gaming-related argument may have ended up in a crime, this next one has a duo that worked together to pull off a game-related crime. Two shoplifters walked away with US$ 1,200 worth of video games in Denver and are now wanted by the police.

Their modus operandi? Classic. One of them will distract employees while the other gets busy pocketing the merchandise. They took turns in doing so, that's why they were able to hide so many games in their clothes.

Unfortunately for them, there's no distracting the surveillance cameras, which were able to catch them at work and as they boarded their getaway car. Unfortunately for the store, the pair still managed to get away. The report didn't mention which games were taken and which platforms they were for.

The crime went down last August 10th at 11:45AM at the local Ultimate Store, so these are folks that do their thing even in broad daylight. Denver police are now hunting these individuals down and are offering a cash reward for information that may lead to their capture.

lol its funny when you think about it... $1,200 worth game would be like what? 1,200 divided by your average game price 50-60 bucks gives you 17-20 games...

if they were used game we can average that out to be about 20-60 used games if that store has used games which i don't know...

I hope they get caught, this is the reason you end up going through security scanners every time you leave a store... I wonder, shouldn't the security scanner have beeped when they walked out? :-|

It most likely did, but too many companies have rules about pursuing thieves. Or it beeped and the employee just ignored it and they laughed it off (I know that happens at a lot of stores I see, it beeps when someone leaves and there's no one there to do anything about it, only the honest folk go back to the cash to have whatever fixed to stop it)

In the UK anyway
once you leave a shop, the security guard must tread very carefully

Are there still game stores that put full games in the "floor space"? All the stores I visit only have the game box in the racks and the real games are stored either in a closed "storage room" or in the case of new releases in a locked display behind the cashier.

They obviously aren't ashamed of what they've done.

But it doesn't make sense putting full games boxed on the shelves, it should just be the cover with box and that's it.
