2. Mario and Donkey Kong

Mario's first ever appearance was in a Donkey Kong game, but the common points between the two did not stop there. Miyamoto says that his portly plumber took a lot of influence from DK. Did you know he originally wanted the 1981 Donkey Kong to be a sidescroller?

listening to him talk, you'd know he's not like most of the devs we have today. he clearly loves what he does, and im just glad to see that he succeeded

I couldn't agree with him more towards the end. I can't wait for my kids to enjoy all the same games. My little girl is addicted to NSMB. I can see all the same joy and frustration and dedication in her eyes that must have been in mine.

Wow! 7-8 people to make such an epic game that's lasted decades. Now it takes 100+.

Actually most of those 100+ phase very quickly, because they base their approach on Visual elements, instead of content/script or interaction... and go with very very standard game-play.. but I agree some jewels are around, and others just flip out.. like RE4..( good ) RE5 ..( meh...)..

I was mostly hitting on things like FF. Epic and huge!

All I know is, I like the way Miyamoto thinks! I play new games today and something just feels missing. I know it's because I'm older and mostly have memories of old school games but he keeps all that stuff alive. Every new Mario is new enough to basically enjoy 'over again'. It's todays technology mixed with old school and I just love that stuff!!!!

So this pretty much confirms: no more Mario games for Wii, then. And it also explains why they almost never make any new "real" Mario games. Definitely interesting.

Maybe.. But you'll never know. "as the technology evolves" Motion plus is new technology so its not impossible that they could make a mario game using that.
But I dont think so. But new technology doesnt have to be a new console.

Usually good game creators develop characters, things like personality, backstory, etc. Mario is just mario. Rescues princesses and appears in every game imaginable with a few catch phrases.

It's like having tom cruise appear in every movie possible. People get sick of seing it and want a new face.

And so there it is Mr Microsoft and Mr Sony, THE man who controls the biggest selling games of all time, ENJOYING IT for the gameplay not just the bucks. Hence why both Microsoft and Sony fail. I bet they wish they had somebody with the skill of miyamotos left finger in their companies. kinect will fail because Microsoft don't live games, Move will fail because Sony don't live games and both will fail because they don't have a miyamoto san designing class games

Stanly the bugman was a much better character than mario. For one, he doesn't constantly mutter annoying one-liners.
