Sega Losing Money, But Still Doing OK |
Listed in: Tags: Pachinko, Sega, sega earnings
Sad but expected, Sega are losing 6.6% in revenue each year. Their investment in coin operated pachinko machines are keeping them from losing even more.

Sega haven’t been doing too well since they stopped doing the whole console thing, and have been riding on old ‘classics’ (To be honest, I’m a bit sick of seeing more ‘Sega Classic’ collections) and the name of Sonic. Appearing alongside Mario in damn Olympic games and even in TV insurance commercials, they seem to have sold a lot of their soul. At a decent price though, as although they’re seeing a 6.6% loss from the previous year, they are still doing not bad, as from April to December in 2011 they've made an overall profit of £284 million.
Sega reported that the best-selling software title over the 9 months was indeed Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, with 2.4 million sales.
Pachinko sales and income from coin-op machines saw a growth, which recovered quick after the electricity problems caused by earthquakes in Japan.

I wish they'd make a followup to the Dreamcast. Or like, innovate something ..
