Sega: Bayonetta sold over a million, Mario and Sonic sold over five

sega Another publisher has revealed their Q3 2009 financials, this time it was Sega's turn to crunch the numbers. They've gotta be pretty pleased with this outcome - two of their games sold seven digits for the quarter.

For Bayonetta, the publisher reports that their new action game has sold 1,100,000 worldwide on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. An impressive number, but pales in comparison to Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, which sold 5,760,000 copies on the Wii and DS.

Also worth noting is Football Manager 2010 with 740,000 copies sold, while the Japan-only cameo-fest Phantasy Star Portable 2 got a respectable 540,000.

new games usually have a hard time compared to an established franchise.

i believe that bayonetta has a long way ahead of it, but the game is solid and the people like it.

This is a pretty good game, but, my PS3 couldn't handle the game. The 360, however, can play the game beautifully.

Was it really the PS3 not being able to handle Bayonetta?

Here's a thought: the makers of the game weren't able to fully utilize the PS3.

When you have software like Game of the Year winner Uncharted 2 out there, I'm pretty sure the PS3 can more than handle Bayonetta.

sega decided to back one of the worst gaming titles in history since it came to 3d graphics alien vs. predator that game will surly be a flop every time those names appear for a 3d title it usually doesn't do well. The Movies have gone down hill, OH JUST LET IT BE(Dead)

Sonic used to be cool. After hanging out with Mario, he's just an annoying douchebag.
The worst thing is these games sell well, which tells other developers cheap, half-assed games mean easy profits.

Good for Mario and Sonic! I hope Bayonetta burns in the pits of hell.

The only reason people bought the game, is to see the main character "exposed". Worshiping a virtual "woman" is not healthy kids.
