Rockstar to ban Gamertags, PSN IDs of Red Dead Redemption cheaters

More bannination is going to be had come tomorrow. Rockstar has warned that if you hacked Red Dead Redemption game saves, you will find your Gamertags and PSN IDs banned from playing.

"Oh yes. As promised, the ban hammer is a'coming," said Rockstar. "Starting on Tuesday 24th August we will be swiftly and indefinitely banishing from the world of Red Dead Redemption multiplayer all Gamertags and PSN IDs we've detected with hacked game saves."

Furthermore, "Such cheating is a clear violation of our code of conduct, and punishable at our sole discretion." If you hacked and gets banned (which you will be, so they promise), you will also be taken out from the leaderboads.

"To be spared, any hacked saves that you have will need to be deleted - single player as well as multiplayer. You should be aware that everything wiped when deleting saves. These are the only exceptions:

Players would keep any Achievements/Trophies they had already earned.
All preorder items tied to their accounts would be unlocked for them upon signing in and creating a new save while connected to Xbox Live or PlayStation Network.
Any cheats earned through Social Club would be unlocked for them upon signing in and creating a new save while connected to Xbox Live or PlayStation Network.

If you've got something to delete, Rockstar says you better do it before they start sending out the banhammer in a few hours. After which, you have to go online to rgister. For single-player saves, you'll have to replay the game while online all the way to the safehouse at MacFarlane's ranch. If you have multiplayer saves, then you'll need to play one full game online or do one Gang Hideout.

Sounds like a lot of work, eh? That's what you get for taking the shorter, but illegitimate, route.

I don't get it. Why is everyone so bent out of shape about changing a save file to get 5th prestige? I earned my first level 50 by doing gang hideouts. After the long and exhausting grind I realized I'd never spend the time to prestige 5 times. Soon after I decided to change my save file to prestige instantly. Whats the big deal? Why do people think it's easier to kill people once you prestige? The only way killing others gets easier is by having good aim. Everyone gets the same guns no matter what prestige you are. I like how rockstar isnt doing anything about the exploiters who took advantage of the gang hideout glitch. I remember how pissed everyone was when that happened.Everyone complained and hoped rockstar would take the xp away from the players who exploited the glitch. BUT NOW no one cares and rockstar is doing nothing about it. Its like this: Lets say you leave your wallet somewhere and a person finds it. That person decides to max out your cards and steal all your money. Eventually you find out who it is and just pat them on the back and say 'my mistake! it was my fault for losing my wallet, just keep all that stuff you bought with my cards and cash' Wouldnt you press charges? .. its all about the 'modders'. I myself am not a modder.. A five year old child could edit their save file for RDR. Its THAT simple. The game is sub-par anyways. If I get banned I'll just trade it in towards the new halo. RDR is the ONLY game I've ever manipulated because it was SOO easy. You just watch a youtube video and its done. I understand that YES I cheated, I admit that. I can also deal with being banned. But what I cant stand is that rockstar is justifying cheating on one side and punishing it on another. Its bullshit.

I do NOT agree with banning due to hacked single player games. That's your own game, sometimes hacks add life to a game. When it started interfering with their business or other players' enjoyment, well, that's when you should take action.
