Retail release confirmed for NBA Jam HD

Yesterday, online retailer GameFly titillated sports fans with the possibility of a retail release for th PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of NBA Jam. According to EA, that's all a load of... truth. The game's HD versions really are coming to a retail joint near you.

Confirmation comes from EA Sports Vancouver's Jen Riley, who told gaming blog Kotaku, "The fact that retailers are showing the box is because we are shipping Jam in a box on [Xbox 360 and PS3]. We just haven't announced a firm date."

Despite the lack of a surefire release date, we may yet see the big over-the-top arcade basketball title before the year's out. Late last month, EA chief Peter Moore indicated that they plan to release it "in time for the holidays."

I think this should be a Download only game priced for around 15 bucks. Its a great game, alot of people will buy, everyone wins.

Pricing this game for 50-60 bucks at stores is kinda outrageous, especially if they really stuck to the roots of the original game cause there was no Career Mode, it was all Arcade Mode and I don't see Arcade Mode being worth 50-60 bucks. I understand it will have online but still it should be priced around 15 USD. Almost everyone will buy, and they don't have to spend money on burning the game onto disks, and if they decide to put it on a disk for those that don't have online, it should be priced at $19.99 or 25 bucks at MAX but no more.
