Rebellion happy with AvP's success, already thinking of a sequel

On the whole, Rebellion Developments is pretty happy with the reaction to Aliens vs Predator. Despite some less than favorable reviews, the game became the fastest-selling title so far this year in the UK. This has prompted the studio to start thinking sequel.

“We're delighted to see the game shoot to the top of the UK charts,” said company co-founder and CEO Jason Kingsley, speaking from Paris.

“We wanted Aliens Versus Predator to be a critical success as well as a commercial success, which we think we have achieved.

“We're also in discussions with Sega about ongoing support for AvP, and also about a sequel to the game,” he added.

As for the "critical success" part, Kingsley said that critics' reactions have been mostly positive.

"We've had three totally shit reviews by some Americans, which is a bit odd," he said. "Some of them were inexcusably bad. If you discount those poor reviews AvP is averaging high for us."

That made me laugh. The Grey's Anatomy scored great if you dont include the poor reviews.

I guess they don't seem interested in supporting the game with some DLC. Guess I'll just wait for the next game then if it's only recieved mixed reviews. Maybe I'll hire it, chances of that are unlikely though, Blockbuster is 500m away

The game merited the criticism. However I and my friends still bought the game and I won't take it back no matter how disappointed I am with it.

We want to make sure that Rebellion have another go to make a worthy sequel to the first game on the PC.

this crap is a pure insult to the marvelous Alien vs Predator saga!

the game is kept so simple as if rebellion thinks the average player is a retard! the weaponary is literally castrated! i request sending everybody who worked on that dirt in prison!!
25 years buttrape wont be enough, but its a start! i damn the day i bought that crappy game! seriously which shit head thouth that 15 mission with nearly the same maps for the 3 races would be enough? the game play sucks the stealth kill are a joke and why did every race lost a vision mode? what happened to the weapons? AND why on earth is there a predator-alien and the player IS NOT ABLE to play it?
and which shithead fucked the story up? just because a really lame movie showed up? u implented the lame pyramid?
any one this game isn't worth the dvd its pressed on!

i got the game played and it felt like i was playing something rushed and plain. the weapons sucked really bad the characters seem better using melee only. I tried predator mode and it sucked so i turn invisible as soon as i sneek up to a human and kill him my cover is blown wtf!!! the predator is always invisible.

I returned this game, actually sold it on eBay, after only 5 hours of playing it.

-The online took FOR EVERRRRR to find/join a game.
-Once it was found, it was found but what killed it was when it ended. You leave the room and you have to WAIT AGAIN!
-Single player campaigns were alright, mostly got it for online play anyways.
-Online level up for only skins!?
-Oh and by sequel do they mean they are going to throw AVP away? As in no patches, fixes, etc...?

I guess I just have to wait and see what happens with AVP2...?

I just had to shut off the auto transition for the Xenomorphs, I almost puked in the damn sewers... I loved the predator campaign (trying to pass it on nightmare ATM), and the marine mission was kinda meh. I hope some DLC is waiting down the line

..not buy a game from a company that can't even get the demo to function properly, plus the fact this was a near clone of the first generation AVPs on PC.
