Last week, Sony surprised the PlayStation Portable community with the release of PSP firmware 6.37, that includes "some minor update that improves system software stability during use of some features" and apparently, blocks the Sukkiri exploit and some "Kernel exploit used in the Hen." Now moving forward today and what do see, a new firmware announcement for the PS3.
Sony’s Eric Lempel announced earlier that a new PS3 system software update version 3.56 will be coming out real soon.

oh well I just bought a 320GB PS3 slim (399.99USD) for FW3.56+ but my PS3 CECHA01 is staying on 3.55 Custom
If 3.56+ doesn't get unpacked and re-package as a custom firmware soon, Sony can probably expect a rise in console sales.

I don't think it will matter. Every PS3 owner decides if they need the online play and if not then they'll probably go with custom firmware and other homebrew.

has the advent of the hacking done anything detrimental to the ps3 at all? a few noobs may have bricked a console or two but unlike sony claims the sky has not fallen on our heads, the apocalypse has not started!

not all of us on CFW use it for piracy! i have no backup manager installed, was quite happy playing my Legit copy of GT 5 until this morning! i use the cfw simply to ftp to my ps3 and play genesis/snes games. although to be honest its kinda pointless to stay cfw'd until someone releases a decent media server for it with mkv support (dont start preaching about ps3mediaserver or tversity as they both have huge flaws when transcoding for me as im on mac).
the issue i have with your post though is that you are calling all of us on CFW cheap ass cunts which im afraid is like saying all french people are corrupt, all germans are nazi's etc... its simply not true! a lot of idiots out there do just wanna play free games but also for a lot of people its about freedom to use a 'gaming/computer system' the way we want to after we have paid rather a lot of money for it!

The keys are very valuable. We can sign homebrew, but they have to be signed everytime for every new update. KaKaRoTo has released the keys, succesfully updated the program that unpacks and repacks the 3.56 firmware and has already decrypted the new mysterious .SELF package that Sony added. Please, don't speak out your ass. If they weren't valuable, Sony wouldn't be suing Geohot, and if they weren't valuable Sony wouldn't be trying to change AND hide them (which they did, but they were found and released and are now on the reposite http://github.com/kakaroto/ps3keys) EVEN MORE SO, they were discovered within the HOUR that Sony released their precious 3.56.
