Looking forward to some electric Pikachu action in Pokemon Black & White? Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Not until you finish the main game, anyway.
GameFreak's Junichi Masuda revealed that players won't encounter any of the established favorites in Black & White until they've cleared the game. Masuda explains that this was done to instill a sense of discovery in those playing the game, similar to what the original Pokemon games evoked.
Presumably, you'll be able to capture or trade older Pokemon upon completion.

but the water type one does look like the worst one yet!
BUUUUT thanks to a few 'yiffy' drawings and some amazing art talant, i think i started to like the water one just a bit more. not as much as the other 2 but if its drawn right, it can be very cute x3

Like, you could see the timeline of pokemon in-action in-game, as you caught more and more pokemon and got further and further into the story.
How they would do that, I don't know, but Gold/Silver were THE best games to me, since they included the original red/blue/yellow world next to the new.

I think they made the right call by doing this. Accessing the older Pokemon will likely be like how we discovered the availability of Kanto after beating the Elite 4 in the original Gold... I'm looking forwards to the new generation of Pokemon now, and I actually wasn't before.

This also means that Black and White will introduce at least 150 new Pokemon. Which is just staggering and takes the total to ~650.

Lets ignore making a storyline again.
I'm annoyed they will just 3D it and limit it instead of adding stuff like a storyline, new minigames, old minigames (bug catching!). It will be the same again.

aperson2 is correct this means a legit generation unlike the Sinnoh gen which had way too many evolutions of already existing Pokemon (albeit most of them where much appreciated)Ove rall it will make the games more of a mystery and add the wonderment of forming teams of unknown pokemon and see how they play.
