PlayStation Plus to feature nickname-change options on PSN?

Some anonymous hackers from the EFnet chat channel are claiming that a new feature is set to arrive on the PSN for US and Europe. This one should let you change your nickname on the PSN display.






 

 

Now, this feature isn't entirely new. It's been around the Japanese PSN for a long while already, but is currently not available in other territories. The claim is also that this feature should be available exclusively for PlayStation Plus members only.

Wow I've known about this for ages that's y i made a psn account everyone used to be able to see the name change and i screwed wit my friends with it but not anymore sony patched it now only other jap accounts can see the change

Hopefully this isn't something for just PSN+. Id like to finally be able to see the damn rules for some of the spelunker rooms I join (the japanese change there nickname to refelct the rule of the room when they are host).

We all know how Sony works.. They'll charge a stupidly high price for minimum extra features then slowly roll out the extra stuff you should have got at the beginning so the early adopters get basically ripped off compared to what the competition offers for same price. Really Sony has a lot of catching up to do with services they offer.

actually because it psn+ is a subscription based service, anyone stupid enough to do anything criminal wouldn't get too far.

are they really that stupid
simple way to solve all the problems, allow changing of names (well not all problems, the rules thing mentioned above wont work)
of friends and friends only

this way they have no reason to charge, it will be kept locally, on the ps3
and it stops phising
allow they probably want to charge

i personally dont want to see strangers being called by their first name, it would make it easier to spot friends in the lobbies

im waiting for PS Cloud before i sign up
