Head's up folks, SCEE has announced that the PlayStation Network will undergo a routine maintenance on Monday, August 30. According to the post, the PSN will be down from 8:00AM to 9:00PM BST.

"During this time you will not be able to access PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home or any part of Account Management, such as your Download List."

But the good news, you can still play online games and access the official PlayStation forums during the said maintenace.

Yeah thats a big plus in my book! I guess they figured out a way to do online maintenance without having to restrict online play. Its kinda confusing though seeing as you can play online but you cant check the store... or your account... Do you think they are checking for some exploit loop holes in their PSN Store that they found and none of us did?

If you mean gamesharing where someone logs on to another profile and download all the games that they have bought, then they should fix it.

So you are saying that I shouldn't be able to share my DLC/games with my son and daughter on their PS3s, because some other people may abuse the option to gameshare.
I disagree, and say that gamesharing adds value to the PSN store.
I buy more games for the PS3 than the 360 specifically because I can share the DLC with my family.

Dude, that's a feature put in there knowingly by Sony. Most releases follow the five PS3s rule, others (like Warhawk) choose the "only one PS3 can access it in any given 24 hours".

It isn't something to "fix".

What a dick move! Seriously!
Monday is a bank holiday in the UK, the relaxing equivalent to Independence Day or Thanksgiving in the US but without the events. People just sit back and do nothing! More people work on frikkin Christmas day than a Bank holiday.

Such a moronic thing to do. Sony = they really don't get it. Protip: you do it on Tuesday when everyone is back in work. Geez!

Btw it's "paid". Also I don't care when I get paid, if I have money in the bank and I'm sat in bored on a bank holiday then I'll have to put my money elsewhere.
I hope XBLA and the Virtual Console/Wiiware stores are ready! Time for a big splash.

Just sucks for Sony that they decided to do this on a bank holiday Monday in the UK, they've lost money.

You can still GAME, just not shop, or PS Home. (Not a Home fan personally)
SONY won't perform maintenance on Tuesday, it is the weekly store update.
Also, I thought the summer bank holiday was the first Monday in August not the last Monday, I must be thinking of Scotland or Ireland.

Exactly! But be prepared to be voted down.

I guess the bank holiday will be a good time to buy all those XBLA games I've been too busy to play instead.

The problem is kid, we're not all kids. I'm at work now on my iPhone. Next time I'll be home is late tonight and Sony can eff themselves if they think I'm going to use their console late at night when I have better things to do because they wanted to shut their servers off tomorrow.

But hell it's not my problem. We all got bonuses at work last week so Microsoft and Nintendo better be prepared for a lot of money! Seriously I haven't bought from either server (or PSN) in months so theres a backlog of titles to buy on my day off.

Stop being an imbecile. If you can't work out the problem then you are quite dumb.

I have (had) money. I wanted to buy games on my only day off. It doesn't matter if I can or can't download games - I can't buy games. There is the problem. Nothing to do with if I can or can't be around my PS3 whilst they download.

Also I lol at the "dumb" comment, you're the one who seems to have anger problems (which is commonly linked to low intelligence) and can't see the problem presented here.

You mean like mentioning to Sony that it was a bad idea to stop selling games on a UK holiday? A place that has more PS3's sold than Xboxs? I even offered my thoughts to a few colleagues who work at a Sony-owned studio. They're really not happy with it! They advised otherwise but (as usual) Sony don't listen.

If wanting them to be open on a holiday is being "a kid" then you've just called some very well respected studios "kids".

what i think ...your a 360 fanboy who is looking for any reason to bash against sony. If the maintenance was schedule for any other day , you would still crying againts sony.

why if it's so important for you , you didn't buy your games during last week-end ... why wait on a monday .... easy because you just want to bash against sony

LOL I know what you mean. If one thing isn't working cause they are doing maintenaces, everyone complains. People are never happy.

At least we can still game online, and that was one of the most important things that people would get upset about, now they fix that and people are still upset.

I really don't see why so many people are getting so annoyed by this. We can still play online. all we can't do is access are account maintenace, Home or the PSN store. I know it's a bank holiday (in the UK) but is this really such a bad move by sony?

Sony are sorting out PSN people. Grsnted, the work there doing probably won't affect or improve the service we already have but at least there doing something with it.

A bad move for them, not for me. I'm home for the bank holiday and I had loads of money to burn. All Sony achieved was my money going to their competitors. Simple as that.

From what I can gather it is the software of the psn store that is being updated so they and absolutly nothing to do with the massive database of users that they have for people that play online so they just leave everything else alone except for the psn store and bingo we can still at least have fun online :)
