Peter Moore excited for PS3 "Arc", not so much for OnLive

EA's Peter Moore has expressed his excitement over the PlayStation Motion Controller ("Arc"), but cannot say the same for OnLive. This he revealed in a recent interview with CVG.

"I don't know about Onlive," he said when asked if he thinks it just might be the "iTunes of gaming". "If a consumer's got five bucks to spend on some cool DLC; if they love Tiger Woods but want to be able to play online and invest US$ 10 or US$ 15 over a period of tiime... those are the things we need to look at."

Now that's as far as his opinions go on OnLive. As for the "Arc", he definitely thinks it can play a very good complementary role to existing hardware and software out there.

OnLive is that online only console that is supposed to stream all games (no matter who makes them) directly to your console (obviously you would either purchase the game or get the demo). The console is supposed to have a wireless pad and has a built in drive. it has no disc trays or anything (from the last i heard anyways) and it looks like shit.

looks like zeebo, it does work, but it have weak hardware.

Well I guess that's not the point, Zeebo uses local hardware to render, OnLive uses cloud.

OnLive runs the games on server farms, the small receiver part at home only gets the image streamed. It works already surprisingly well (given that I'd expect it to not work at all), but I still can't imagine it working well with fast action titles. And then you're completely dependent on the service being available for playing.

And, mind you, AFAIK you pay full prices for the games there, just as you would in a shop. Only that you don't get a disc, booklet, anything. Just the permission to play the game as long as the service exists and they see fit to support that game...

The world is so full of douchebags; I just hope there aren't enough around to make this crap a success.

Onlive is a good idea at the begining but has son weak points.

Not to mention all, the turn off for me is the fact that i have to be always online to play games. whet happen if i whatn to take it to a place i dont have internet?

I preffer to have al my games in a local media to play everywhare, i don´t what to depend on an oline connetion to play my favorite games.

so fo that onlive sucks!!!!!!!
