3. Other games on Pachter's list
If you were asked which game, in your opinion, is the worst financial investment of all -- meaning, worst game ever made -- which one would it be? Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter was asked that very thing, and he had a quick answer for it.

turok-1His pick: Acclaim's Turok. This 2008 multiplatform  FPS title, he believed, was "over-produced" by the developers. Simply put, it wasn't the smartest investment Acclaim ever had.

Big money was allocated for the game's development and marketing, strategies which unfortunately did not yield any spectacular results. Not even the use of Unreal Engine 3 could sway the market to pick it up from the shelves.

i just wish they would have done this game more like the original turok....but this one it was just too horible and saddening to see turok turn out into this piece of crap.....i know it was a "reboot" of the series but seriously? they could have done much better if they just made it like the original one......

E.T. was the worst game ever made and it very nearly killed the entire video game industry in its time. Turok has nothing on it.

There were a lot of bad Atari games around that time, but ET was definately #1.

I heard Atari buried around 5 million unsold cartridges.

There have been a ton of bad financial decisions in the vg industry but I would have thought that the Virtual Boy and Duke Nukem Forever could easily be the worse of all. How many units would Duke have to push for the devs to even break even after X years of salaries and development costs? Also, the Virtual Boy only made it to 14 games total before Nintendo scrapped it. I'd hate to have been an investore back then...
