No go for EA's purchase of Mythic Entertainment |
Ó
You know how the cliche "There can't be any smoke if nothing's on fire"
goes, and boy was there a lot of smoke regarding Electronic Arts
purchase of Mythic Enteratainment. Question is, where's the fire? Apparently, there's none as Mythic Entertainment CEO Mark Jacobs doused the rumor saying that "We have no deal and we are currently not talking to EA" (take full note the of the word "currently").
Jacobs announcement was made to end the doubts circulating Fairfax future. Fairfax is the game developer behind the quite successful MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot and highly billeted Warhammer Online.
Although the company's CEO admits that there have been recent meetings held between the two companies, there's no concrete plans or agreement existing with EA or any other company yet.
He also confirmed some of the rumors regarding the lucrative offers he received for the selling of the company he co-founded, but he all turned them down, stressing that "I will not now, not ever do a deal that puts the people at Mythic who made this company great at risk". Aww, how sweet, that's a boss everbody will love; Dagwood for one seems interested.
The 10-year-old Mythic Entertainment is mother to around 15 online games.
