1. Nintendo game sales by the millions
2. Nintendo's top-selling Wii titles

You can debate about the DS and the Wii all you want, but you can't deny that Nintendo has made a killing out of software for those systems. The third quarter of the fiscal year has ended and Nintendo reveals their top-selling titles worldwide, each of them selling at least seven digits.

For the DS, Nintendo's bestseller is unsurprisingly New Super Mario Bros., followed by Mario Kart DS. It's a pretty distant third for the remakes Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, while the relatively newer iterations Black and White have already made it fourth in life to-date sales.

  1. nsmbNew Super Mario Bros. - 26.21 million
  2. Mario Kart DS - 20.7 million
  3. Pokémon HeartGold, Soulsilver - 11.72 million
  4. Pokémon Black, White - 5.32 million
  5. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future - 1.87 million
  6. Art Academy - 1.52 million
  7. Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-land Mayhem - 1.15 million
  8. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinel of the Starry Skies - 1.02 million

Do note that for Unwound Future and Dragon Quest IX, the figures only represent totals for Europe and North America. These games were published by other companies in Japan, so Nintendo didn't account for their sales in the region. It's noteworthy that both titles rang up over a million copies outside Japan, and if the figures would definitely move up if the region was accounted for.

Pokémon Black and White still haven't reached the Europe and North America, where the two versions are due this March 4th and 6th respectively. The fiscal year ends March 31st, so the games will have about a month's worth of sales to pitch in to that number for the next financial report.

Now how'd the Wii do?

"You can debate about the DS and the Wii all you want, but you can't deny that Nintendo has made a killing out of software for those systems"

I've stated that very same thing. What do I get in replies?

1. The sales numbers only prove how many stupid people there are.

2. Nintendo tricked all of them into buying their games.

Ugh, haters are gonna hate! Meanwhile the rest of us enjoy our games.

I can play that game too.

Hey, you know the NGP that's all the news right now? You know how they haven't announced a price? It's so that they can drum-up hype and bait you into wanting it before announcing a price of nearly $400. That's them tricking you. It's also known as marketing, and it's bullshit. Anyone who falls for this simple marketing ploy are idiots. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL OLOLOLOLOLOLOLO L OLOLOLOLOLOL, Sony fanboys, etc, etc.....

Close enough?

I'm not sure why some people assume the NGP will cost $400. That would be a bad move for sony. I'm guessing sony will be shooting for a $300 NGP price tag.

But this topic is on game sales.

Why are new versions of mario kart and super mario brothers good sellers for nintendo?

I bought both games on my DS lite. Mainly because, what else is there?

GTA Chinatown wars isn't on the list? That's probably the best DS game.
