New Super Mario Bros. did outsell Modern Warfare 2

A lot of eyebrows raised when Reggie Fils-Aime confidently claimed that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will outsell Modern Warfare 2. What do you know, he was right after all.

Cruising and crushing them all

The surprising data reveals that the Wii exclusive did surpass Modern Warfare 2, at least on the PS3. For the month of December, Mario and friends sold some 2.82 million copies, which now brings its sales to 4.21 million. The PS3 version of the world war title currently stands at 2.95 million, while the Xbox 360 version is at 5.83 million.

Nintendo's big man is keeping the challenge till the end of this January, so let's see if Mario can surge ahead and catch up with the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2. Nonetheless, as it stands, that's still mighty impressive.

The plumber in red over-alls has obviously not lost its touch.

Considering the fact that New Super Mario bros is always sold out I think it may be hard for them to get those numbers up unless they start keeping it stocked better.

New super mario wii is a game who respected the fondamentalof the series and come great new experience , MW2 is a marketing package stronged with false reviews and corumpted magazine and 1000s ads , i think you should chek , gamspot game of the year award to understand why MW2 is a UK money machine , hey dont forget amazon buyers feedback . if i have to give note

yes some people got to realize that these comments Reggie made (and usually makes) are NOT for the gamers but for the investors to hear. Nintendo don't give a damn trying to prove either the mario fans or the FPS community that their game sold better, but it will bring more investors in which means more money for them.

Doesn't need rocket science people and yes I don't like his attitude either.

Last time i check, didnt halo have that box around the head crap? where if you shoot inside the box you get an automatic headshot? But i agree with you, COD is noob friendly, takes no effort whatsoever. Thats why MGO beats the rest.

impressive numbers from nintendo and I did enjoy the game very much. Although Mario didn't actually outsell MW2 when you consider the fact that it only sold about half as much when you look at total sales. Also nintendo pretty much guaranteed it would sell by not putting out any other good games for the Wii this year with the exception of a handful.
