Got Guitar Hero scores high up the leaderboards? Then maybe you should take your skills with rhythm-based gameplay into another battlefield. For that, there's Vibes. A challenging minis rhythm game with a steep learning curve and a mission to hurt your fingers.

Vibes will be available for minis on June 8th for US$ 5.49.

I'd rather play singstar country before I play a game that makes that kind of horrible sounds.

the system this games uses makes it restricted to only 1 button press at a time (in any given direction at least.)

which means that the concept of rythm and timing is only on a level where you're doing 2 things at once (moving the 3d stick around and pressing the button.

most other games such as this have more buttons to press at the same time which can really improve your rythm skills. (guitar hero drumming is a good example of this)

I'm a huge fan of most rhythm action games, from the main stream guitar hero (mentioned above) through to lesser known titles like parappa the rapper and Gitaroo Man, so I thought for the price this game looked great and I wasn't disappointed.

There's a good selection of songs from multiple genres (robthom - the track in the video is the only track of that genre, I guess you'd call it house or techno).

Visually I agree at first glance beats springs to mind, however the difference when you play it is obvious. The levels in Vibes are scripted for the songs, so sections flow and pop in time to the music, but in beats because it's trying to match button presses to audio data on the fly, the experience is no where near as compelling.

Give it a shot, its a must for any rhythm action fan.
