Because a big pile of info may not keep you all that busy, Guinness will also let you set records of your own (kinda) with three in-app games:

  • Fastest 100m on an iPad – take on the world’s fastest man as your fingers go tip-to-toe with Usain ‘Lighting’ Bolt and attempt to break his 9.58-second record
  • Fastest alphabet backwards – speed typing the alphabet forwards is one thing, but typing backwards will need a quick mind and even quicker fingers!
  • Longest sequence memorised – a memory endurance test where the noises are inspired by real human sounds

Each of these games will come with their respective leaderboards, but with a twist. Guinness will announce the top record-setters on May 1st, 2011 and subsequently include their names and scores in the world records archive.

“This is not the Guinness World Records book for the iPad, this is unique and specifically created content that is dedicated to showcasing everything that is amazing about the iPad and Guinness World Records;” said Guinness World Records editor-in-chief, Craig Glenday.

The app weighs in at 380MB, costs £2.99, and will be available December 16th.
