Even after getting her little sister back, Lightning still doesn't seem to have lightened up. She's still a lot like how we remember her in XIII, but there will be some differences in how she is portrayed in the next game. For one thing, her rosy motiff - the one in her Crystarium and Odin summoning - is replaced with feathers.

According to Toriyama, this is symbolic of how Lightning approaches a god in the game. After all, she is now the hero that saved the world. As Toriyama jests, Lightning may be a little more exposed now, but they wanted to preserve the noble and elegant feel she had in the Final Fantasy XIII. Now, she has a more fantasy-like theme with her armor and weapon design.

What about the others? They'll be back for the direct sequel and they'll have undergone "major and unexpected changes." You will also be meeting some new ones as well. Toriyama asks the fans to wait for updates on that end.

Gameplay-wise, there's a revised travel system and the world will be full of people. Perhaps this is a much less linear game this time? As for those who played Final Fantasy XIII, they're still trying to figure out if they'll be giving out bonuses.

And I still hate the new look they gave lightning. Doesn't make sense whatsoever.

Motomu Toryiama is the Uwe Boll of the gaming industry...I wonder if I can find a petition against his career too.

Fans "wanted" a sequel to FFXIII but there's still no Chrono in the pipeline? SE is really out of touch with their fans.

"it's because a lot of fans all over the world wanted it. "

I think he wanted to say:

It's because a lot of fans all over the world didn't appreciated it well. sales didn't meet expectations. so we needed to milk it more.

that is not even the definition of milking? Milking is when something is VERY successful (IE: FFVII). This is not milking, if anything, it is trying to fix all the problems of the first game to give fans a better impression.

they could have just made another game altogether rather than use XIII's bad name

now fan(boy/girl)s are still rabidly bitching about a FFVII remake. soooo yeah, there is no excuse for this

The real reason they're making a sequel is because it's cheaper than making a brand new game. They already have all the resources from the last game and a story to build on. It's all about the money.

Everything is sounding like a real Final Fantasy except that we still dont know about the battle system which I hope they go back to the old times Turn Based Active system. And not just a generic action adventure system like FF crisis core or FFXII.

Would the story be good? 13 had a very cheesy story.

a spinoff/sequel off a game with a crappy story will turn out good

Its funny how fast they'll be pulling in this game.

The length of time needed the last time definitely has something to do with the 360 version.
