Microsoft: The hardcore will buy Kinect first

At first glance, Kinect seems to cater more toward the casual masses. Microsoft believes, however, that the hardcore will be ones to buy it once it launches.

"I think we know that hardcore gamers will be the first to go out and buy it, as they are with any product," Xbox's worldwide product marketing manager Ryan Moore told CVG in an interview.

"So we know we have to have a wide range of experiences," Moore added, "from things like the animals game you saw today to... to... games that are more geared towards the core. So I would expect a wide range of products to be released this holiday."

Among Kinect's launch titles are Kinectimals, Dance Central, and Joyride. A Star Wars lightsaber game was also teased during Microsoft's Kinect conference at E3.

I think microsoft is mixing Harcore and enthusiast... The enthusiast is the one that will buy every piece of new technology because it's out. He buys stuff for the sake of having them first, also because he's a gadget addict. The Hardcore gamer buys stuff to enhance gaming experience... Since there's no hardcore games associated with Kinect, he obviously won't buy it! Sheesh!

No. The "Hardcore" gamers want games. If there are only crap/casual kinect titles at launch, then they will not buy. I was kind of interested in the lightsaber game until I saw the extended trailer. Now I have no motivation to buy into kinect at all.

i dont agree in a different link it said that call of duty will not be kinect compatible, so i see it this way, Kinect + Move + Wii = TOYS for use when you have visitors at home, although i saw a Move video with Socom 4 looked pretty cool i might buy it.

I understand what you're saying for Kinect, but Move and Wii aren't toys. Move at least doesn't seem like a toy, but the Wii has quite a few amazing and exclusive games that are really fun.

I believe it. I can't wait to have a game like Ghost Recon to be able to play with a controller and give orders to your team mates with hand gestures.

I think too many people are underestimating Kinect because they've only seen the casual games. If you use your imagination, games that use Kinect + a controller could be amazing for hardcore gamers.

Yeah, but he's talking at launch, not further in the future when actual cool stuff comes out. "Hardcore" people won't buy it until it's proven to be awesome.
Fanboys will buy anything day-one. That's the group he's talking about.

Family-CORE,FANCORE,wh atever,people will money down for a specific feature on this.I've seen nothing elaborate about it,just a hand-full of some WII-influenced games.Maybe later on see some real hardcore games that looks/plays cool,rather than looking like a mad man waving my hands around....cough....kinect adventures......
