News and info on Final Fantasy XIV up to this point have said that apart from the PC, the only gaming console that'll get the MMO will be the PlayStation 3. As it turns out, the ship hasn't sailed yet on that particular detail, and it appears Microsoft is taking steps to make sure that they don't get left at the docks.

In an interview with RPGsite.net, FFXIV producer Hiromichi Tanaka revealed that while there are no current plans on developing an Xbox 360 version, Microsoft isn't exactly out of the picture just yet. "Currently there are no plans for a version for the Xbox 360," he said. "We are still talking with Microsoft about an Xbox 360 version, but at the moment we are only working on the PS3 version and Windows version."

The good news is, despite the possibility of adding another version for the game, Final Fantasy XIV is still well on track to be released in 2010.

yea good point, and 11 was on the ps2 as well..

I wouldn't get it if XIV comes with the same restrictions as XI..
IIRC they deleted your account/characters if you don't play/pay for a while.

They only delete your stuff if you quit and delete your stuff but that was in the beginning. Now you can quit for a long long time and you just pay like 20 buck to reactivate your dood.

if 360 got Xi ur trying to tell me there gonna ruin the fanbase they grabbed off the 360 and make all of those people buy PS3's doubtful considering im sure theres alot who only play that particular game and nothing else squareenix wont let that money get away nor will MS for that matter...

360 might not be able to handle it. If you look at the official benchmark program and the scores people are getting. It is gonna take a serious gaming PC to run it in 1080, the PS3 version is being locked at 720 so depending on how they code their engine it might be a hell of a lot of work to optimize it for 360 if it even can?

As long as they don't delay the other versions it's all good.

As long as others don't have to suffer, then I'm all for it. But, as with 13...

STOP. SQUARE. Before you DO end up porting it and then blame the lack of this feature or that feature on the fact that you had to make the versions "equal". Why not just do it at a later date? After the game is out.

noob fanboy. they are a company and their first priority is to promote their game and make money from it so they will put it on multiple consoles meaning many can enjoy it

just because its on another console wont hurt ur ps3 version so quit ur bitchin

inherently limits the potential of the game for all platforms and this was already done on XIII. Each platform has their own benefits and disadvantages so Arc is right. If they decide to release the game simultaneously on a new platform and then decide it must be made an equal experience across them then all versions will suffer from it. If that makes him or me a fanboy then so be it, I'm a fanboy of good games because I'm a GAMER.

MS: How much?

SE: $$$

MS: Done!

SE: We are pleased to announce that, in keeping with our focus on Western audiences, we are releasing FF XIV simultaneously on the PS3 and 360.

A week later, News: PS3 version delayed by 1/2 year.

neh, the dev for the PC should be very similar. I'm sure they'll make the ps3 version 1st, then make pc/xbox together. While doubtful, it would be hilarious to see 360 version get 1080p.

Yeah actually the PC version is almost complete, the PS3 version is a couple weeks behind it right now. Like they said they haven't began working on a 360 version.

to bad 360 subscribers will be paying double to play the game. If SE thinks M$ is going to budge and let Silver members play it online they have another thing coming. M$ = all about the money! :-?

I just wish for once that when a game is exclusive to PS3 that it stays exclusive to PS3.

just curious, because if it was anything over 5 gigs, then either FFXIV will be cut short due to the 360 drive capabilities, or content will be removed.

a game this large would probably have a huge download, for the maps, major patches/add-ons, NPCs/vids, and any other major content, but i am sure everything else will be on disk, which would mean you are limited to 1 disk (disk 2 should not be able to interact with disk 1, etc)

Every disc of FFXI was a DVD so 4.7 GB with I think 5 expansions not counting the DLC expansion so you are looking at about 20 GB give or take after the install

Why the f*ck is mircoro$$$$$$$$ $$oft so greedy they are stealing almost every single game thats not on their console. First Final Fantasy 13, then final fantasy versus 13 then final fantay 14!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean what the f*ck, why are they sooooo desperate for money!!!!!? Final fantasy 13 only sold 1.40 million copies on 360 while it sold 4.06 million on PS3! Dont microft know there not going to make money like this!? Because of M$ final fantasy 13 was linear since Square had to make the game smaller so it would fit 3 360 discs and it still sucked!!!!!!!!! Now final fantasy is going to be a FAIL! Jesus christ!!!!!! BURN MICRO$$$$$$$$$$ $OFT!!!!!!!
