Mass Effect 2 strong release sales, set to break ME1 record

Mass Effect 2 is having a darned good opening day sales, and no, it's not the "it-was-just-okay" kind of strong opening. Rather, it was the "oh-shoot-that's-100,000-users-plus-plus-online-eight-hours-after-launch" kind of strong opening.


This number nicely puts it at the number 2 spot of the highest rated Xbox 360 game ever. If it keeps up with this kind of sales numbers, it is not impossible that it will beat out Mass Effect 1 sooner rather than later.


And so EA and BioWare's got another healthy cash cow at hand. Good job, guys! Congrats for a great launch!

I understand Mass Effect is a good series and great fun. But apart from the rumours of it arriving on PS3, I'm not sure this has any relation to the PS3 section of the site.

Maybe when the trilogy is whole they'll release it for the PS3, right now it is illogical to start releasing for that platform. Even if people want it.

They could actually fit all 3 games onto one blu-ray if need be.

One of the major obstacles is recoding the game for the PS3's architecture, it's not like they could just magically recompile it through Sony's dev tools.

Word on the interwebs is Bioware is making a bunch of unannounced PS3 games. And strong indication that it could possible be Mass effect baby. So far nothing 100% confirmed but it's very likely it could indeed happen. As we see with Ninja Gaiden 2, GTA4 Exclusivity deal, Bioshock one 1 exclusivity that MS contracts aren't iron clad...at least with non first parties.
