Man sets world record and maxes out Bejeweled 2 scoreboard |

Millions have played and got hooked on Bejeweled 2, but one 56-year-old steel contractor from Riverside, CA, has accomplished something that no player has done before - he played it out and attained the highest possible score for the game.
"The highest score the game is capable of calculating is 2,147,483,647; that’s 2 to the 31st power minus 1," explains Bejeweled co-creator and PopCap co-founder Brian Fiete. "We had to give the game some sort of maximum displayable score, and figured that was high enough, no one would ever get that many points."
Apparently, someone got hooked enough to reach that insane score - his name is Mike Leyde, and you might say that he is the first man to ever beat the game. He would've gotten a higher score than that, but the game wasn't designed to display anything more than that and just shows a blank where the score must be.
In total, Leyde invested over 2,200 hours playing the game over a span of three years. If you put that together, that'd be like playing for eight hours a day, five days a week, for an entire year.

One wonders how people support themselves while attempting such feats that surely no mere mortal could ever hope to achieve.
