The River Withywindle rises somewhere in the Barrow-downs, continuing through the Old Forest. Strange, dark events seem to happen along its banks as it winds amidst the ancient trees, so travellers might want to avoid its waters. This can be a challenge, however, because the Withywindle has a way of luring unwary victims toward its deceptively placid surface and into its dark depths. There are those that say strange woodland creatures of the forest - and even the very trees themselves - are the source of the dangers that lurk along the riverbank.
Those who play Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar will soon discover that the Old Forest and the banks of the River Withywindle held some of the strangest adventures for intrepid hobbits setting out from the Shire. It promises a journey full of unexpected (and dangerous) twists and turns, where nothing is what it seems. Adventurers should travel with caution, being alert for strange beasts and even the trees themselves. Traps await the unwary all through the forest. It's not all evil and darkness, of course - look carefully and you will find the home of Tom Bombadil and Goldberry along the river's banks. Even here, however, the the Old Forest can show its dark side - so keep on your toes!
