Local co-op, more weapons confirmed for Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

D3Publisher have released a few more details about Vicious Cycle's upcoming bugstomping title, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon.

The game's multiplayer component has been confirmed to support local co-op via split screen. Gamers can also choose to go online and form a party of up to three people to tackle campaigns. Apart from the campaign, there's an online survival mode for up to six players.

Furthermore, EDF soldiers will be getting a greatly expanded armory. The number of weapons has been increased from 150 to over 300 and every soldier can suit up in one of four upgradeable armor sets. Weapon drops are also being re-introduced in every campaign.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is currently slated for a PS3 and Xbox 360 release in Spring 2011.
