Looks like the code of secrecy once again fell on deaf ears as a trailer for Rockstar's facially superior L.A. Noire was leaked into YouTube. There was plenty of awesome animation and chilling suspense to be seen, but more importantly, it also revealed the game's release date.
The trailer, which was supposed to be unveiled this Monday, was prematurely shown over the interwebs earlier. Set in 1947, you'll be playing the cop, solving cases and cracking down on the crooks. Your biggest case in this one is a dangerous serial killer on the loose, and it'll be up to you to sniff him out and bring him to justice.
Unfortunately, Take Two Interactive did some sleuthing of its own and managed to sniff the leak out, subsequently taking it down from YouTube. What it won't change, however, is the fact that people got the game's release date - set for May 27th, 2011.

The Kotaku article says the 17th, not the 27th.... get your info straight.
