Kotick: West and Zampella will not be successful or productive ever again

Someone's hating on Jason West and Vince Zampella, and unsurprisingly, it's their former boss, Bobby Kotick. According to Activision's man in suit, the duo will "have a really hard time ever being productive or successful ever again."

Can't be successful without Activision?

"It shook my belief in two specific people, who were my friends," Kotick said in an interview with Edge magazine. "The frustrating thing about that is, the stuff that these guys did, I never would have expected them to do. We're a public company, we've got ethics obligations, and the things they did were... I would go to jail if I did them.

You can't use the company and the company's assets for your own personal benefit, and you can't use the leverage that you might have for personal benefit - you're not allowed to do that! And so we dont have any choice."

He also said that they knew the repercussions of firing West and Zampella as the guys in Infinity Ward were all the best of friends. "We knew that when we had to fire Jason and Vince we were going to lose a lot of really talented people.

That's one of those really difficult decisions as the CEO of a company, where you step back and say, 'No good is going to come of this. They're going to leave and probably have a really hard time ever being productive or successful ever again, and we're going to lose some talented people, and there's nothing we can do about it.' And there wasn't."

Kotick also boasted of the "something like 5,000 resumes" he's received so far vying for the now vacant IW positions.

Kotick is way over his head. He dares speak about ethics, what ethics? Activision only believes in money. What ethics were there when they wanted to sell a certain game for about $90 per copy? Remember that? or how about selling map packs for $15? where's the ethic on that? They only speak of ethics when it benefits them.

that's not ethics...

it's a business' right/obligation to charge whatever the market will support. if it don't, they suffer the consequences...

you may not feel it's right, but that's the way a free market works... while you're at it lets complain about the cost of housing, food and transportation.

Ever heard of Valve?

Their business view > Activision's view.

some companies value their customers differently... that has nothing to do with ethics or charging what they want.

and personally i don't care for the steam service. so i guess that's really a matter of opinion.

Activision has contributed nothing to the success of Infinity Ward, or to Vince and Jason for that matter. Im sick of publishers trying to take all the credit for what their developers do. Its actually the other way around. Without infinity ward I dont see activision being as valuable to Blizzard and eventually being dropped. I hope for nothing but the worst for Activision. I hate you and everything you stand for, your games are tired. Guitar Hero 11 and Tony Hawk 26. Think of something new, dont keep milking your titles til people despise them.

that's just retarded...

/begin sarcasm

a company (or publisher in this case) never does anything to contribute to the success of it's employees... ever. that would totally ruin the company's bottom line...

/end sarcasm

bull shit they ripped does guys and now they spread bad ads about them , ithink activision will bever be able to produce a COD4 quality ever as the mw2 of kids and OPS can be cocidired as a series filers , does guys denied activision politics thats why , im sure West and Zampella will produce a hight quality fps with EA , beside that tryarche are just a IW copiyers , they use IW cod sources to produce fast COD whille IW produced a big blockbuster.

sry for my eng

IF IW was so bad

- can activision provide a COD 4 quality game
- can activision release a demo "oh they dont have money for it"

guys youll never see the BLACK ops DEMO and you know why .

Black Ops doesn't have the same impact as Mdern Warfare 2, so it's possible for a demo to pop up.

They knew MW2 would sell like hotcakes so they didn't bother for a demo.

no , many featurs shown on pre releases video were fake and no dedicated servers bad squad ai bad controls bad level design , all this may be easily noticed on the demo , and then activision prefered to save the beautiful COD 4 players view so they can make big sale and huge buz .

Bobby Kotick is going to do something stupid by 2012. As big as Activision is, his stupid idea will effect most of the gaming industry. The sooner he gets fired, quits, the better it will be for all gamers...

1. shame on you, QJ. the title stated that they wont be successful ever again instead of saying that its going to be really hard to become successful again (or something in that fashion). this indeed shows how lame you guys are.

2. kotick is just a prick anyways...who gives a damn what he says? im pretty sure we all KNOW that they will pwn activision for their blasphemous lies
