Kitase considering direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII

lightodinWith a story that good, I'm up for seconds, definitely well-written. It seems that Yoshinori Kitase thinks so too, nursing the thought of a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.

"In the past three years we worked both on the world and on the various systems. Creating these systems isn't very glamorous and can frankly be a bit boring," the game producer told Write About Games. "If we could do a XIII-2, we could direct all our attention to the story and refine what we have already built."

It wouldn't be the first time for Square Enix, and Kitase himself confessed he'd like to do a direct sequel. There is, however, one important consideration - "That depends on how well the game sells in the West!" he said as he laughed with colleague Motomu Toriyama.

"We are very excited to see how gamers respond. We have created a completely original world," he added. "This was a huge challenge. Working for a HD system like the PS3 asks a lot of our designers. We had to model every object with so much detail, so you would believe these things where real and existed somewhere."

It's possible, lest we forget that Fabula Nova Crystallis still has Versus and Agito waiting in line.

yea but they really need to change the name of these titles. If they make this sequel it would be 4 final fantasy 13s and thats just stupid and confusing. People that dont know any better are gonna end up getting the wrong game, especially if its a gift or something.

You know what I'll join in on the bandwagon for a remake. But not 7. 7 can cup my balls and give me the reach around. Let's see a remake of 8 or 9. Or better yet, a real remake of 6 (as opposed to the aweful things they did with the other FF games on DS).

Seriously? How in the hell could you prefer 8 and 9 over 7? 8 with it's crappy payment system among other less than enjoyable features. Don't even get me started on 9. 9 was a joke. You may not like 7 and you are obviously entitled to your opinion but it's easy to see which titles is the best of the 3 simply by thier following and spin-offs. 7 has them beat hands down. 9 was so bad that you don't even see the characters mentioned anymore and they don't bother to port it over. For example characters from 7 and 8 make it in to Kingdom Hearts but no one from 9. Older Final Fantasy's make it on to the DS, iPhone etc and some get put up for download on PSN, Wii, etc. Not 9 though. Dissidia doesn't count, they took 1 character from every numbered title. That theme aside I'm sure they would have left Zidane out. Face it, 9 was good for a once over but that's about it.

Being that Final Fantasy 9 is my favorite in the series, I have to correct you. Vivi from Final Fantasy 9 made it into Kingdom Hearts II. Less people seem to have played it, since it came out right around the time the PS2 did. And FF10 came out soon after but it's whatever. I like all the games.

I think a remake to 6 would better since that wasn't 3D. Sequels are stupid. *looks at FFX-2, Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus*

I'd argue that ff10-2 wasn't a sequel but it was merely fan service for a bunch of virgins.

I'd rather have a sequel to one of the older games like FF9. Let us travel into the wolrd of gaia once again! It would be really nice if they let us have some nostalgia moments without having to play the same old games over again.
Make more sequels, prequel s and remakes of the older games!

He, I think Square think XIII is actually a graphically impressive game. I think its rather dated to be completely honest.

And I want an FFVI remake as well.

There is a lot of talent in SE that they dont need to make a direct sequel, they can just keep doing more endless FF tittles with a great story, a Sequel in FF could make it worst... Crisis Core Did great but just remember X-2...is not a bad game but is not as great and is not as much as a sequel demands it to be...and as much as i love FFVII get over it...a remake is not gonna happen, just move on with your life's as I do with mine...many great games will come out form them I hope

I'd be interested in a sequel, especially if they take some of the feedback to expand on the game. how about a full class system, and true turn based system. with all the deviation from what's expected in a FF game, the game is still pretty rad.

All you retards that are saying "No" don't know what you're talking about. -_- I mean imagine if they made an XIII-2 and it turned out to be REALLY GOOD. Just let Square Enix do what they want. If you really want to have a say, get a freaking job at Square Enix! By the way, I think XIII-2 would be great! :D Good luck. ~A
