Keiji Inafune hates his job, wants to retire early |

Capcom's Keiji Inafune has been very vocal about his disappointment with the industry. In last year's TGS, he said Japan's gaming industry is "finished", and in TGS this year, he found the games to be "awful". This time, the man expresses his frustration with himself and the games that he's worked on.
In an interview with a Japanese news site, Inafune was asked about his work as the producer of Dead Rising 2. The interviewer noted that he seems to love his job. "It's the opposite," he replied. "I hate it! I want to retire early and take it easy."
That is the reason, he noted, that he's been working hard. He says he could easily opt to do some small bit on a game and receive a large salary, but he's not going to. "There are loads of creators like that," Inafune explains. "But I'm not like that. If things are difficult while they are doing it, they can become a leader and a creator."
The Mega Man creator seems to be particularly hard on himself. Making games isn't easy, and it doesn't seem like he's having a lot of fun in the process. After all, once you look at it from his point of view, it's work, not play.

Basically take this guy out of his current position and strip away his money and fame, put him down to where the greasemonkeys are being fired from. Lets see how much he complains then.

And it's a great job. I liaise with our satellite studios. It's more about meetings with the producer and director, travelling, then acting as satellite producer. It means a lot of air miles (hence why I only bother with PSP news here).
But this is only my current role. I've been a producer, director, lead artist and supervisor. Before I worked for this studio I had one of those above roles at SCEJ but it's tough out there.
FWIW: If you do post on whitelisted sites you can't mention your current place of work.

because we all know that executives are phenomenal spellers and don't have a team of people telling what to say and how to say it...

Whenever you get sign contracts with employers for media based jobs (games, TV, movies) you agree not to post on other websites. But in recent years these rules have been challenged so now you're given a list of sites you're not allowed to visit. Neogaf is always allowed but you're required to submit your username and they keep a close eye on you. QJ is not on this list. I know of at least 2 other high profile developers on this board.
Same thing happens if you work in any department for Apple which is just really strict.
But its up to you if you chose not to believe me. I'm earning £60k a year and I work with some other excellent people and my name is probably littered on your PS3 and PSP library ;).

I remember reading you had friends or similar producing games for 3DS. You better not reveal who you work for or users might spam you infinitely.

Besides that I would not complain about what he believes or what opinions he says. Video games are just video games. I have realized that many people who get into a state of playing too much video games are usually lazy and get stressed out easily. I should know because I have done it and so have my friends.
I know that some who are going to read this; are going to put up their defensive wall and say that; "well, you can't say that about everyone else!" Well the truth is; I play video games a lot; or well I used to until I stopped playing so much a few months ago.
I realized its just for entertainment purposes. If you start to get angry at your game you are stressing too much and will take it out if someone bothers you.
I know that this has nothing to do with the topic, clam down people. What I am saying is that Keiji could be stressing out with making a great game that will be successful. Many developers are problably tied down to what they are doing. everybody has a different idea how a game should flow or how the story is told.
Many of us just play the games. We don't make them; so why should we complain when they are creating them to please us and earn money for themselves?

I do like some of the series that you have mentioned: Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, Soul Calibur, I played a little bit of Splinter Cell Conviction, God of War, and Heavy Rain.
I do see somethings that I don't like with the japanese RPGs; They are not coming over seas to America. My favorite is the Tales series. Why do they keep denying to port it over to Playstation 3 for Americans to play. The Xbox 360 is not really meant for JRPGs. It's more based towards Call of Duty shooters.
But yea that is my opinion. I'm not trying to sound angry or the complaining type, but just thinking out of my mind.
