Keeping Lost Planet 2 for 6 months deserves a trophy/achievement |
Listed in: PS3, Xbox 360 Tags: Capcom, lost planet 2, trophies and achievements
Publishers have been trying to find different ways to combat used game sales that hurt their numbers, and it seems that Capcom is trying one out with Lost Planet 2.
From the first time you stick the game into your system, Capcom will count the days and see how long you've had the game. For keeping the game around for six months, you will be rewarded with the "Honeymoon Period" trophy, or 20 Gamerscore points.
Unfortunately for them, your console's clock can easily be changed to reflect the needed elapsed time, so you really don't have to wait half a year just to get a small achievement. Do be reminded, however, that Lost Planet 2 hasn't been around for that long, so anyone who's gotten Honeymoon Period as early as now obviously spent a few minutes ticking the clock, and that may spell consequences on either PSN or Xbox Live.

Easy one. Release a free patch adding more worthwhile trophies.
OR
Have the game sync with a server online when you first put it in, that way you cant trick it.

Works for the people who bought it first day. Not so much for others. Since you can just buy the game a day before or even after the patch comes out and get the trophy.

it takes a minimal of 5 weeks to plat, which is next to impossible to pull off, so youre looking at 15 weeks to plat this game, which is basically 4 months of playing on some level and even this is all luck (faction matchs since you need 3 wins as each faction and you can only pick 1 a week, and theres only 3 types you can win and it has to be the faction not you!) these titles alone can make the game unplatable =P just saying
now ways to trick this/make it pointless to post as news/other
if you must actually have it for 6 months how can the game tell? i mean even if there was no trick
play 1 day
play 6 months later
this can be done with rentals or anything... its silly to even give it the time of day, you should post the faction matchs since those actually seem like they were planed to make the game go on forever

avQuoting GUNBEHINDTHESUN :
While valid, should have some sort of reason?
for starters you never played LP in general so you dont really have a right to talk, and the 2 games you mentioned are like that because of higher marketing and more mainstream appeal
god of war for instance, is one of very few games i wouldnt accept for free (i plated 1 and should have plated 2)
the story is flawed and too basic to ever matter
the gameplay is too simple to ever really get into it, if you want to talk Hack and Slash say Ninja Gaiden or DMC or atleast bayonetta =\
and the challenges are more luck based than skill based
but it looks nice, has elements that make people love it (if this game was about killing gods it might have got better reviews)so it sells well
the same can be said for Uncharted though i Hated the gameplay of 1 i did like the story, which was lacking in 2, much like co op and multiplayer... the game is really just this gens Tomb Raider (everyone seems to agree that anything thats a ***** hack and slash is GoW so you should agree on this too...) but to each their own

how we can make blanket claims and get rep, and lose rep for stating an opinion with reasons
I have to ask you though, what the fuck is your point? How is throwing in an achievement which i dont even see a ACTUAL reference to capcom saying that the trophy was ment to be anything past a X time trophy... which are in no way uncommon or even questioned
tales of vesperia has one for 100 hours
blazblue for 25 hours
3d dot game heroes, 10 for spelunker mode, 5 for normal
etc
until i see a FACTUAL quote of someone from capcom saying thats the point, why attach a meaning to nothing?
as far as what you said, we can argue this all night and day, God of War is not that great of a series, it looks nice and has a lot of violence, that is all it takes to be good now a days, but you cant dismiss a title for no real reason, neither of you give anything past blanket statements which are harder to agree with since they add nothing, if i were to post Uncharted 2 is shit, no one would stand for that and i would be called a troll, but because its trendy to dislike LP 2 its ok i guess?
