Keeping Lost Planet 2 for 6 months deserves a trophy/achievement

lp2Publishers have been trying to find different ways to combat used game sales that hurt their numbers, and it seems that Capcom is trying one out with Lost Planet 2.

From the first time you stick the game into your system, Capcom will count the days and see how long you've had the game. For keeping the game around for six months, you will be rewarded with the "Honeymoon Period" trophy, or 20 Gamerscore points.

Unfortunately for them, your console's clock can easily be changed to reflect the needed elapsed time, so you really don't have to wait half a year just to get a small achievement. Do be reminded, however, that Lost Planet 2 hasn't been around for that long, so anyone who's gotten Honeymoon Period as early as now obviously spent a few minutes ticking the clock, and that may spell consequences on either PSN or Xbox Live.

maybe if they made it a bigger trophy/achievement, then it may have been more enticing.. still.. :-?

Where is this Gamestop? The one near me won't pay more than $35 for a newly released used game.

He probably sold it during a promo week with 50% more for your game. Or with another game. Gamestop will not pay over $45 without some sort of promo.

this show the achievement system is stupid honestly i thought it was unnecessary anyway and now it just goes to show its getting more useless yes i appreciate challenges but that could have been more prize for it aside from points that dont really give u any new privelages. bottom line if people want games to last longer instead of achievements or dlc how about making the games give more motivating reason to actually go for the achievements or challenges.i don't know about you guys but im getting older and more games that catch my interest keep getting released so im not going to go out of my way to get something that isn't going give me much back anyway

A lot of the trophies which are all factored into titles, are insane, though the actual trophies are only so so, the last one get every title has actual achievement in it

get #1 on a leaderboard
get top 10 on a leaderboard
win 3 faction matchs with every faction
get gold on every training mission
get 100,000 - 300,000 damage with everything
get every game good job (no deaths at ____ point, do side tasks, etc)

all these anti used game publishers should stop worrying about gamestop selling there used games .they should start worrying about making great games that people want to keep and put trophies / achievements that are worth playing for and that show how good of a gamer you are not how loyal you are to the publisher..

ps.. if your game sucks or i beat it in three hours im selling it or donating it dont hate gamestop for buying crappy games that nobody wants to play

lost planet 2 should give you a platinum trophy just for buying the game...cuz IT SUCKS... but then again you dont want to reward stupidity, imagine what would happen if stupidity was rewarded? There would be fast food restaurants on every corner, people would buy halo games 1 - 2 times a year, Twilight would be a popular movie, movie games would suck, football would be called soccer, and the world economy would be IN SHAMBLES!!!
I FEAR THE FUTURE OF MANKIND......oh, wait a minute...

Really? They can program but can't figure this one out?

Easy one. Release a free patch adding more worthwhile trophies.

OR

Have the game sync with a server online when you first put it in, that way you cant trick it.

I have an idea along those lines. Add a patch that gives a code that unlocks a setting that is locked in settings. Call the setting "oO What could this be? Check back on [insert date(a yr from release i guess?)] to find out" And after the patch the setting gets unlocked. You click it and you get the trophy "Dumbass you kept the game way too long and now you can't sell it for a dime just so you can get 5 Gamer Score"
Works for the people who bought it first day. Not so much for others. Since you can just buy the game a day before or even after the patch comes out and get the trophy.

I keep seeing this story (i didnt want to post anything since i get tired of seeing -__ rep posts on here) but this trophy means nothing no matter how you go about it and shouldnt be news in the least

it takes a minimal of 5 weeks to plat, which is next to impossible to pull off, so youre looking at 15 weeks to plat this game, which is basically 4 months of playing on some level and even this is all luck (faction matchs since you need 3 wins as each faction and you can only pick 1 a week, and theres only 3 types you can win and it has to be the faction not you!) these titles alone can make the game unplatable =P just saying

now ways to trick this/make it pointless to post as news/other

if you must actually have it for 6 months how can the game tell? i mean even if there was no trick

play 1 day
play 6 months later

this can be done with rentals or anything... its silly to even give it the time of day, you should post the faction matchs since those actually seem like they were planed to make the game go on forever

Game developers just need to start making better games. Lost Planet never really looked appealing to me. If it were brand new for $20 I wouldn't buy it. Games like Uncharted 2 and God Of War 3 are perfect examples of money well spent. People don't want to lose those from their collection. Capcom should think before releasing boring junk.

While valid, should have some sort of reason?

for starters you never played LP in general so you dont really have a right to talk, and the 2 games you mentioned are like that because of higher marketing and more mainstream appeal

god of war for instance, is one of very few games i wouldnt accept for free (i plated 1 and should have plated 2)

the story is flawed and too basic to ever matter

the gameplay is too simple to ever really get into it, if you want to talk Hack and Slash say Ninja Gaiden or DMC or atleast bayonetta =\

and the challenges are more luck based than skill based

but it looks nice, has elements that make people love it (if this game was about killing gods it might have got better reviews)so it sells well

the same can be said for Uncharted though i Hated the gameplay of 1 i did like the story, which was lacking in 2, much like co op and multiplayer... the game is really just this gens Tomb Raider (everyone seems to agree that anything thats a ***** hack and slash is GoW so you should agree on this too...) but to each their own

Regardless of anything you just said, LP2 was shit - far below GOW3 or UC2. capcom should still be aiming higher if they want people keeping their games so others can't buy them used - they should make better games instead of throwing in "acievments", which have no value other than what gamers put into them.

how we can make blanket claims and get rep, and lose rep for stating an opinion with reasons

I have to ask you though, what the fuck is your point? How is throwing in an achievement which i dont even see a ACTUAL reference to capcom saying that the trophy was ment to be anything past a X time trophy... which are in no way uncommon or even questioned

tales of vesperia has one for 100 hours
blazblue for 25 hours
3d dot game heroes, 10 for spelunker mode, 5 for normal
etc

until i see a FACTUAL quote of someone from capcom saying thats the point, why attach a meaning to nothing?

as far as what you said, we can argue this all night and day, God of War is not that great of a series, it looks nice and has a lot of violence, that is all it takes to be good now a days, but you cant dismiss a title for no real reason, neither of you give anything past blanket statements which are harder to agree with since they add nothing, if i were to post Uncharted 2 is shit, no one would stand for that and i would be called a troll, but because its trendy to dislike LP 2 its ok i guess?

O damn those titles that victorinox mentioned are freaking impossible for the average casual gamer. Having that mess up your achievements or trophies is horrible if you are a perfectionist.

Great idea. So after you register your game using a key you decide you don't like the game. Oh fuck! Now you can't trade/sell that game. Oh, even bigger shit when you forget your info then no one gets to play.

Well I guess you like to play the campaign over and over again.
