tmovie I saw the Tekken movie the other day, and I have to say, it's likely the most ridiculous movie adaptation of a video game I've ever seen. It's so bad I could post an entire review categorically bashing every detail, from the lame choreo to the embarrassing script. But don't let my opinion get in the way of things, but maybe you'll take it from Katsuhiro Harada?

"That Hollywood movie is terrible," he simply Tweeted. "We were not able to supervise that movie (It was cruel contract) I'm not interested in that mv." It's so bad that Harada doesn't even want to say anything more about it. "Please don't ask me about that movie. We did not have the supervision right. I don't want talk about that," he said in another Tweet.

Games can never really be adapted into movies, the same way movies can't really be adapted into games. They're two totally different media that, unless a solid and trophy-worthy storyline is present, need to stay away from each other. If anything, we need to see a Metal Gear movie.

did the crew played the game at less

ok i am sure everybody remembers the first final fantasy movie which sucked BUT final fantasy vii advent children was one of the best movies i have ever seen......as for tekken i refuse to even watch it knowing that king is not in the movie...how can you have tekken without king?

Just saw the movie, I admit that i enjoyed it(for all the wrong reasons) after leaving my brain at the door. Now that that's out of the way. This movie is freaking terrible, it deserves every bit of criticism received.
Bad acting
Fights are decent in my opinion
Horrible script
Kazuya has a threesome, nuff said
Heihachi is a good guy = Epic fail
Steve Fox is older than Nina which makes no sense because he's her son
Plot holes so big that you can literally fly a 747 through them, followed by Christie's ass cleavage.
Kazuya was pretty cool although he had a freaking threesome that came out of nowhere and was completely out of place
Heihachi is played by the same guy who played Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat which was kinda cool BUT WHY IS HE A GOOD GUY? WHY DOESNT HE JUST BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF KAZUYA? I mean Heihachi is the ultimate badass, but here he's such a pushover, he doesn't even fight!
Oh and where is Kazuya's scar?
Kazuya fights with an axe, WTF?
The name of the corporation is Mishima Zaibatsu NOT Tekken
There is no mention of the Devil Gene
Appart from Jin, Heihachi and Kazuya, this has nothing to do with Tekken, it might as well be called Idiots in a ring
The only 5 things i liked about this movie where
1: Yoshimitsu beats the everlasting crap out of Jin
2: The fight scenes where fun although poorly choreographed
3: Christie's ass
4: Kazuya and Heihachi where perfectly cast in my opinion, although it was a waisted opportunity
5: Yoshimitsu was treated as lead badass which was great because he's my favorite character.

I agree. "Heihachi is the good guy." Heihachi should not be the good guy.Heihachi made Kazula evil. It should be the other way around. Steve should not be older than Nina. I only saw eddy in the movie for like three seconds and that was it. That was disappointing. Chrisie did not even know Capoiera. What was that. It was like Eddy had nothing to do with Chrisie which was not true in the video game. I definitely think Eddy was perfectly cast. No one else could play eddy. The guy looked like him and moved like him too. He looked ecactly like Eddy. Not to be racist but the guy wasn't even Japanese. They could have chosen a Japanese actor. Someone bulkier than John Foo. Mainly a Japanese guy though. I barely saw Nina and Eddy and there one of the main characters in the movie. The script was bad. they just through a bunch of characters in with out stories (Eddy, Nina, Steve, Christie,Law).Each character should have a back up story. We need movies like the Mortal Kombat Legacy. If directer Kevin Tancharoen had something to do with the tekken movie it would have been better. It didn't even come out in theaters. They failed. I think someone else should re do the Tekken movie.

Well I have to admit I watched the movie because I am a Tekken fan but if you want to make a movie of a game you must have, you must had played the game for long time.
And also you need a good cast that look kind a exactly to the characters.
At the movie, they didn't explain about the devil gene, the corporation name wasn't Tekken it was Mishima Zaibatsu. But I really loved Christie's body

The music was good, but the fighting sequence looked like they were dancing. I think Hollywood did a lot of big mistakes on making this movie, ok first of all, Heihachi is not good he's BAD, Kazuya was tossed by his father into a volcano and that's why he had a lot of scars on his body after that the corporation recovered Kazuya's body and infused him with the Devil Gene. And because of that and many others Kazuya want his revenge Steve Fox is not an old geezer. Christine is brazilian and her fighting style is capoeira. So, making everything short they messed up the whole thing.
And Hollywood if YOU are thinking on making another movie of any game, PLEEEAASSEEEEEE hire somebody who likes playing video games, like us, and without hesitate we're going to cooperate. Please call us, we like to help because by doing that we can show you the things like we see it on the game. Don't kill another video game with your stupid ideas, leave that to the pros.

That's right, it's called Mishima Zaibatsu in the game. Tekken I believe means 'Iron Fist'

I just don't get it. They could have easily made the best game to movie adaptation if they used CG animation instead of the stupid idea of using real people/actors for the film.

The opening CG scenes of tekken arcade games, the CG cutscenes in tekken dark resurrection, the ending CG movies of every character in the game all of those were breathtaking. Imagine a full length film of those CG animation. BUT they just had to RUIN it. Darn these producers directors should be charged for greatly insulting a good game

I think if they were able to talk with the NAMCO corp. the movie were worth watch. BUUUUTTTT noooooo, they screw everything up.
But I have to agreed with you it was better a CG movie or could it be an anime version of it.

Not that i did not know the outcome,

actually i wrote this one youtube, wayback and got bashed for bashing hollywood on how they ruin everything.

Anyways they never should have licenced it out to make a movie, Namco makes great cutscenes so why not make a movie in 3D?
They should learn from Square Enix who made the Epic Final Fantasy Advent Children.
And if they find it hard to script the movie and do storyboards they should cooperate with the same people who made the tekken anime movie back in 1999?
Well i will not scar myself by watching this movie, nor will i watch dragon ball or legend of chun li.

Ohh and about the street fighter movie starring Van Damme, Jackie Chan did it 1000 000 000 000X better in City Hunter, and he didnt even have 10min, while you guys had more than an hour?
and he did it a year before i think.

Leave it to the Japanese!(when it comes to video games and animes(But i hate hollywood movies anyways! thank god for subs and for knowing several languages))

The first CG film for Final Fantasy was an absolute flop in the Cinemas, after initial hype it died so quickly. It cost apparently 140 million and only raked in 85 million at the box office. That said it's a real gamble to create an entire movie in CG no matter how big the franchise would be. I'm pretty sure Namco would rather not waste their time and millions of dollars during a financial CRISIS.

Even if you argue that the second movie made up for past mistakes, it was only because that film wasn't released at the Box Office. Had it been, it would of lossed money, probably not as much as Spirits Within but a loss none the less.

You cannot possibly expect Namco to dedicate any time to creating what is a essentially a 90 minute cut scene when they are busy working on far more important releases. True fans of Namco would understand that. As far as adapting anime into movies, you need permission from the anime producers as well, not just Namco. There's tonnes of red tape because no one wants to get sued ever and especially right now because it means bankruptcy.

It should be pretty obvious to anyone that CG costs way more money and is therefor far more risky to release. Just count that Tekken fan didn't have to be embarrassed by Box Office numbers for Tekken.

actually i think right now Namco Bandai are the greatest out there.

Obviously KOF will be the EPIC of epic fails. The trailer is horrible. Terry is like 50. Should just make another KOF anime movie. Yes i agree advent children was amazing, as was the first mk movie, but did you know there was a third one starring Kung-lao. I'm not joking!

The whole movie was a failure! To make things short.To the producers... Try getting someone who has at least played the game, understood it and actually cared about how the fans would feel. Cause that's where you'd get your profits from. And Being able to please the lump of the fan base means repeat business. More profits. However in this case. I doubt that there will be any. Unless of course they try doing some justice to the story.

Well...im also a fan of the game, and i saw this movie expecting nothing at all. It has major flaws and there isnt really a story there...kinda lala. Only thing i enjoyed was Steve...dont even know why they made him a promoter...but hey..he was sexy, and thats all i was looking at lol :)
Leave your brain at the door and laugh about all the mistakes they made :)
Dare i say that perhaps Uwe Boll could have made it better rofl....perhaps hes developing Tetris the movie...so he didnt have time to make Tekken?

This is actually a really great game based movie there are so few good movies based off of great gamed but this is definitly one of the few that does the game its based off of justice.

this movie is missing so many characters like xiaoyu hwoarang julia an evil heihachi and ogre kazuya raven dragonuv a good non evil heihachi steve and christie were not needed there was no king either im totaly confused about which tekken this is i look back at the motion picture & i could assume that it was either tekken 1 with jun lei and baek added or tekken 2 with heihachi as the final boss (its more likely to be the first option)and it had a great plot which you could think could totaly be cannon it has all the right type of character relationships and even jun and lei had a good reason for being on a team on the game they were trying to arrest the mishima starting the tournament so the motion picture makers gave them that reason to be teamed why the hell are jin and christie teamed and who the hell is kara & why is she stilling xiaoyu man why was jun raped and someone tell since when was heihachi good & why the hell does kazuya have axes

now that was a bad movie, and the problem with video game/anime to live action movies are that the americans do them, i dont mean to be racist, but every fill adapation from a video game or anime from America has been shit (there are some that are ok) and if u look at the asian, they have always been awesome,also i like the movie, but i didnt compare it to the game, there characters where wrong and the wasnt to much from the game on the movie except fight styles and names
