June NPD: DS, Wii takes top spots, Red Dead Redemption sells |
Listed in: PSP, Wii, PS3, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 Tags: NPD
Ó
So, what do the NPD numbers tell us for the month of June? As we all know, that was the big month of E3 2010, with a lot of announcements and promises made, some hypes fulfilled while some disappointed. The numbers show that the DS, after all this time, is still on top of its game, while Xbox 360 moved past all other consoles to snuggle comfortably at #2.
- DS -510.7K
- Xbox 360 – 451.7K
- Wii – 422.5K
- PS3 – 304.8K
- PSP 121.0K
That 510,7000 units moved by DS for the month of June is actually 127,000 more than the units sold last May. It just keeps selling like darned hotcakes. Meanwhile, the 451,700 units moved by Xbox 360 can be attributed to the launch of the 250Gb model.
As for the software numbers, Red Dead Redemption for the Xbox 360 takes in the top spot. This makes the news that Rockstar San Diego is laying off staff just even more unfrotunate.
Anyway:
- Red Dead Redemption (360) – 582.6K
- Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)– 548.4K
- Red Red Redemption (PS3) – 380.3K
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)– 200.9K
- Just Dance (Wii)– 174.8K
- Wii Fit Plus (Wii) – 148K (per Nintendo)
- Toy Story 3 (DS) – 164K (per Nintendo)
- UFC 2010: Undisputed (360) – 148K (per Microsoft)
- LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Wii) – 136K (per Nintendo)
- UFC 2010: Undisputed (PS3)

I don't blame you for the mistake, the DS and Wii have been the top sellers for so long it must be hard to type anything different!! ;)

MGS: Peace Walker has sold horribly, maybe under 100k. However, some torrents sites have shown that it has been dl'ed over 500k! $20 Million+ lost right there.
