Jack Thompson claims victory over Medal of Honor, tells detractors to 'go to hell'

Disbarment from practicing law apparently hasn't affected Jack Thompson's crusade against violent video games. The former lawyer has claimed victory in the wake of EA's decision to remove the Taliban from Medal of Honor. Also, he thinks those who disagree with his and his actions can "go to hell."

Early last month, PC Mag revealed that Thompson wrote a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates urging him to block Medal of Honor's release.

Aside from the issue regarding the Taliban name, Thompson's letter alleged that the game "poses a demonstrable danger to our troops by providing a training tool for those who wish to kill them." He also accused EA of allowing underage gamers to pre-order the decidedly mature title.

EA has since removed the Taliban from the game's multiplayer component. In a pair of emails to gaming news site Ripten, Thompson claimed that this was a victory resulting from his actions. He also had some pretty choice words for those who don't agree with him and his actions:

I win again, as usual. Any gamers who don’t think so and who don’t appreciate what I do to protect our culture can go to Hell.

and please add: Any gamers that don’t know how to get to Hell on an expedited basis, let me know, and I’ll send along the cheat code to get there more quickly.

Wow, I always thought this guy was just misguided and overzealous, but it's clear not that he's got some delusional tendencies. A game decided to remove the taliban as a playable faction shortly after people found out about it and he thinks that he's the one responsible for it? Any idiot can see that letting people play as the taliban is in incredibly poor taste, and even if you set aside the offensive aspect, it's just not a good idea. So EA (the company that scrapped "Thrill Kill") removes it. Of course they would! But it has nothing to do with Jack Thompson.

And then there's his "I win again as usual." That was what turned this from just sad and pathetic to hilarious. Dude, none of the games you've tried to get banned have been, and you were barred from practicing loss. That's something we generally refer to as "losing." Perhaps Mr. Thompson could benefit from that "cheat code" of his more than we could.

I won't buy this game simply because EA lost its backbone, my preorder is paid off but I intend to take store credit. Notice how nobody with an issue is anyone who has actually been?

Wonderful, yet another MoH game where we are forced to play as American's portrayal of the mighty American hero. You know what? This is exactly why I don't like MoH games, they are biased and not the slightest bit open to player variety.

I was going to get the game specificly so I could play as the bad guys for a change. It's fiction, goddammit! It has nothing to do with one's belief system or anti-American views, I just wan't to be the friggin' bad guys in a MoH game for once! Just once!

Removing the Taliban is a victory? Surely theres more important things to do than ban pointless crap in video games. Taliban are supposed to be bad right? Like how the Rebellion in Star Wars were bad if you were the Empire? Then shouldn't they really ban every army group?
