We now have more information as regards to the sudden departure of Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West. After they've been sacked by Activision, they're now gearing up for battle in court, slapping the publisher with a mean lawsuit.
Reports say that Activision was set to pay the duo "substantial royalty payments" but instead fired them even before the date of the said payment arrived.
According to Attorney Robert Schwartz: "Instead of thanking, lauding, or just plain paying Jason and Vince for giving Activision the most successful entertainment product ever offered to the public, last month Activision hired lawyers to conduct a pretextual 'investigatino' into unstated and unsubstantiated charges of 'insubordination' and 'breach of fiduciary duty,' which then became the grounds for their termination on Monday, March 1st."
Both Zampella and West are also seeking the return of their contractual rights to the Modern Warfare brand.

Should be an interesting insight into the inner workings of Activision, and if the pair were screwed over (as seems to be the case) then I hope Activision gets what's coming to them.

This is a prime example of bosses not appreciating there workers. You can just picture the bosses at Activision like, "Hey this mw2 thing has made us quite a bit of money","I know but now we have to give a small bit of it away","Screw that, we'll just fire those guys, keep the money and hire some new coders","Great idea, Sure those guys are a dime a dozen"
I wonder can studios under contract go on strike. Or would that be a breach of contract.

They'll make a plastic gun peripheral with multi-colored buttons so that you can simulate war! Feel how real it gets as you use the new Sony Arc and CODH plastic gun to lob grenades and fire to pwn people LOL! Just imagine, you line up the perfect headshot and quickly, right on time hit green green blue yellow!!! Nothing beats the REALISM! What's even better is that you'll have a new sequel or expansion every 2 months!!! Call of Duty Hero: Afghanistan coming May '10, CODH Downloadable packs including the skate park from TH: Ride (because you need ways to tie-in your other titles) coming soon!
I just hope the IW retained the rights and wasn't forced to rescind them like Bungie did with Halo to get free from MS. (Here come the thumbs down :D)
