Nintendo President Satoru Iwata is definitely in a fighting mood as he reportedly told his senior executives to consider the "battle with Sony as a victory already won." Oh, and as for Apple's iPhone and iPad domination, it's what he calls the "enemy of the future."

It's the devil, I tell you!

This new battlecry comes close in the heels of Nintendo's recent financial report on the last fiscal year which showed the company down some 22 percent in revenue. Understandably, there's growing concern about their position in both the hardwares and softwares section, and so the company is now pushing their teams to once again provide that "surprise" for their consumers.

As soon as next month, we just might find ourselves faced with one of those surprises, given that the new 3DS is supposed to be unveiled at the E3 event. A new Zedla game is also tightly being guarded while in development, and is expected to come out sometime early next year.

I have not been impressed with Nintendo this gen, I mean, I'm sure they are impressed with themselves because they are raking in the dough.. but from my perspective, I feel like Nintendo is getting a big head. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the only thing I'm looking forward too on the wii.. and maybe a new Zelda title.

On the other hand, the PS3/360 actually have some games I'm looking forward to.. games that try to push boundaries.. at least that's my take ..

I laugh at this as Nintendo releases hardly anything worth owning. Their console is weak and once Sony and Microsoft release their next version, the price will drop even more luring more customers. If Nintendo wants to stay on top next generation, they need to really think about the competition in gaming because next gen, less people will be fooled.

Nintendo and Apple are alike in the products, they produce innovative and fun hardware. The problem is, once this hardware becomes boring, the system is deemed boring. Both companies heavily rely on a single aspect of their product to maintain sales and interest. But, I guess their interest is in sales, not usage, they could care less if someone stops playing on their systems, so long as they have bought them.

Could have fooled me. The system sucks balls. It hardly has the amount of good games the PS3 and 360 have. The PS3 is going to have a better motion control and though motion control is a gimmick, I'd rather play the latest multiconsole game that may happen to be good on a system that doesn't suck.

The Wiimote is nothing more than an add on that should have been implemented towards the Gamecube. It's nice when a company releases an accessory and doesn't force you to get a brand new system to use it(Move working with the PS3, not required to upgrade to PS4.) Or accessories that the company actual supports *cough*Wii Balance Board for $100+ and its huge library of two games*cough.*

Since I get the feeling you don't know this.

The only big alternative to OpenGL is Direct3D, Direct3D is owned by Microsoft meaning you'll only see it on Microsoft products.

Thus all non-Microsoft products are either forced to support the OpenGL standard or create their own (which to note would be a bit more difficult and not as efficient in a lot of cases).

So to mention aside from all Apple products, most if not all products from Sony, Google, Nokia, Nvidia, AMD/ATI, and many more companies support OpenGL for graphics, and products that don't can easily gain support for OpenGL APIs (i.e. the Nintendo Wii).

In fact, many graphics heavy games like Final Fantasy 13, Metal Gear Solid 4 and KillZone 2 use OpenGL for graphics.

The PS1, like you said, they mentioned that it wasn't a threat to Nintendo. Then once it was released retaliated that it's only a competitor due to the larger sized games because of CD support. A competitor is a competitor. Nintendo has turned into such a bitch company that cries when it doesn't make money and talks shit when they have nothing to back it up but a gimmicky system that happens to have sold well.

That's right people, while the DS mentality (original & gimmicky non cutting edge games visually) emerged victorious over the PSP (PS2 PORTS all over the place) it is the iphone that slowed down DS sales. The iphone mentality of pay a few bucks to download a vast number of (arguably small) games is what Nintendo tried to do with the DSiware as a response...

and it didn't work as well. The iphone games are getting more and more complex and people are hesitant to buy full price DS games. So let's just say that thank GOD Iwata knows his stuff.

As for the Wii comments, owning over 70 games for the console, I can say that sometimes ignorance is not bliss so let's just say that I never regretted buying the console and the vast majority of my game collection.

Define good. Is good a game with regenerative health so every time you get hit you wait in order to regenerate and keep on firing? I like nearly ALL my games (ok I got Red Steel for 10Eu which I did not really like) so let me give you a VERY small taste of a few Wii titles no one bothered with.

Little King Story - One of the best game I have played in the last DECADE. Blasting Pikmin to pieces, an amazing story with a ton of variety and one of the toughest games on the console

Fragile Dreams - Another game I have been waiting for over 10 years since watching Evangelion. VERY complex and deep story, one of the most atmospheric games I have played in a long time.

De Blob - Exploring cities by painting each and every part around. Perfect for certain kinds of people and very original overall

Boom Blox games - The ONLY EA games I bought from a retailer!

Pro Evolution Wii edition - Like RE4, going back to archaic controls is no longer possible.

No More Heroes - A WTF game just for the WTF. Very enjoyable game even with its flaws.

Zack & Wiki - Tough as nails over 40H of gameplay to get everything. Mindblowing

I can honestly go on and on and on but some people's ignorance and dependence on reviews rather than personal judgment makes this whole off topic discussion pointless. So enjoy your games then.

As we all know it´s all about games for what is my HD console good if most of the games still suck and the so known hardcore gamers don´t like them. Why do you think Sony copies the Wiimote now they want Wii´s user group and so more market share.

So you have not played ANY of those games...suit yourself. FYI though, regenerative health games (HALO, Bioshock and the rest of that horde of FPS) are much more casual than TANK on Wii Play since much MUCH more strategy and good reflexes is involved on the latter.

actually the only thing at which ninty is truly successful in this gen is ripping people off with last gen hardware in new box packed with a half-finished controller. which is kind off odd considering that they have tried to implement motion sensing into games for a very long time.

Don't make me laugh. The Sony Nintendo battle was over long ago when the PSX N64 and Dreamcast were in play. Nintendo has and will always target the younger audience, that's where the money comes from. So it's good on their part, but when it comes to system system, no, Nintendo will always be behind. They have alright ideas, but their ideas are kiddish. If you really want to impress people, then step it up a notch. Nintendo has failed me ever since the Gamecube. The systems before that were good, the GC failed though. The Wii is also a failure according to my book.

This is a fact. Atleast for the West.

Sony lost all of it's core fans with it's blatant price gouging, empty PSN promises, and poor design decisions concerning the PSP Go. Combined with their inability to protect their own interests concerning piracy. Their doom was inevitable.

THey could have REALLY avoided this if they would did this:

1. Priced the Go at $150.
2. Actually followed through with placing as many games as possible on PSN.
3. Created incentives for 2000/3000 owners.
4. Release their bigger ips that are currently doing well in japan.

Sony PSP in my hand, PlayStationPort able, which is really a understatement. Emulate basically any old school console\handhel d on one device, the name really seems to suite the device for once. Then play PSP and PSX games.... a DS in my hand one day but only to play ROMS when it's hacked. Only because emulation just seems silly, even the WII, one day, only when I hack it.

In terms of quantity and quality of games, Sony PS3 is absolutely dominating Nintendo Wii... And after getting burned on the GC and Wii, Nintendo have pissec away too much goodwill from the core gamers, they won't rush out to buy the next console...

As for the DS, fairplay, it got great 3rd party support, a deserved success, but Nintendo can't rely on a fickle casual audience forever... My dad and uncle put their Wii in the attic a year ago, they won't buy again, and neither will I...

And, my Dingoo A320 emulates MORE systems than the psp and easily fits in my pocket. Not too mention it blows the psp away in terms of video support and the ability to run linux!

Emulating old consoles is NOT hurting anyone, the support for them has been discontinued leaving people like me who own them left with old hardware/games that should be reserved. Games that should have been free at that. Now easily accessible from one portable unit(yes not the first, nor superior to another) unqiue only because it's named brand by Sony. Which might I add, made the ability to emulate basically all of your PSX games on the PSP, but only if it's hacked that is..lol, hmmm. SONYs plan is working flawlessly, NES,SNES,GBA&the like,N64,DS...Yeah, Nintendo won? but when people see me play it's SONY brand they see.

But where Nintendo have fantastic software, the iPhone has fantastic hardware. It's a dream to use and has really impressive tech (GPS, camera, great graphics+CPU, multitouch). IF Nintendo get a great piece of hardware to compete with... nothing will stop them.

And I'm glad. Nintendo are one of the few gaming companies I trust, along with Valve. They consistently make brilliant games. I don't actually know when I last played a Nintendo-developed game that wasn't amazing. Probably Majora's Mask! But I might have been too young to understand it back then.

Can't wait for the 3DS! Fingers crossed the next Pokemon game is compatible with it too.

I like how from a few years back they claimed that they weren't really competing with the next gen systems. Yet here they are saying how these companies are their enemies...really?

I liked nintendo a lot, right now I'm not sure anymore...I do have a wii, but lately I haven't been playing it much. I'm currently waiting for SMG 2, but still...don't know if my wii will get any playtime by then.

Victory over PS3. When the Move and the games show up the Gamecube will be history oh the WII they did change the name of the Gamecube. Maybe he thinks because the PS1 is no longer sold his WII won!!! Think again.

Ok the only reason wii outsold anything is cause it's kid and family orientated, while ps3 and 360 are more for serious gamers, but with games like little planet 2 coming and mod racer nation and the new motion controller wii going to be left behind.

And come on guys let not talk about the worse games wii has the biggest selection of crap out there.

I have all 3 console and wii and 360 collect dust while my ps3 I play everyday. Like come on a wii can even play a dvd at full speed shit!

Okay Nintendo, ill give you this you have had a lot of good ideas such as the motion sensitive controls and touch screen gaming. But yet you still lack good graphics and i have purchased quite a few of you products. Sony allows me to play my ps2/ps1 games and all i can do on your system is play my old game cube games. Sony has a decent portable gaming console you have a two screen piece of sh*t. Before you start saying your the future do some redesigning and make a decent console with your ideas and maybe decent graphics if that isn't too much too ask for.

a) Sony would love to have a higher install base than nintendo and if they did believe me you sony fanboys would be screaming about it like the nintendo fanboys

b) nintendo would love to have a big powerful beast of a machine with a million eclusive A-rated games but they dont and nobody does

c) this statement was actually in buisness terms they arnt going to start saying oooooh we have one game thats really good but sony have 12 booo whoooo they will point out the positives to their shareholders

d) people buy the console they want dont make out people have been conned into buying the wii, im sure most people will realise its not as powerful as 360 or ps3 but the majority of household (not gamers) but casual gamers want a nice cheap gimmicky console and thats what they buy dont cry about it or rant online its up to them nothing you can rant will change that
